Raining hard here to the south now. Drove past the gates I spoke of to the south of Chiangmai today, appears they are letting a lot more water through now. Graph to put into perspective the deficit we have YTD compared to the rain coming.

As everyone in Chiang Mai knows, we have had more rainfall in the last two days than at any other two day period since I have been in Chiang Mai, about 4 or 5 months, or so.

Now two days ago, we started getting very much rain throughout the night.

And starting yesterday, all of a sudden there is like a million frogs, or what sounds like frogs,

Coming from the jungle outside my window and balcony.

Does a big rain like this always cause the frogs to awaken, and where do they come from, do they just come out of the newly created mud, now that the rain has caused so much ground surface water?

And will this continue to happen every time we get such a long and drenching rain?

Yes.

And this rain isn't a lot.. yet!

And this rain isn't a lot.. yet!

Frogs or rain...both not yet a lot?

Seems like a lot of frogs to me.

You know, I do love the sound they make at first with the window open,

But then,

After the 8th hour, as their singing in unison continues to grow and not yet reached its crescendo,

I feel sort of like yelling out the window at them,

Enough is enough!

OK Ka, thanks.

If much more rain is in my future

Or if much more frogs, with the much more rain in my future, is also in my future,

Then I will not complain, but just sit back with a cup of Thailand's Chinese tea, the good stuff, and Listen....rapt.

Because for me, when it is rainin' in Thailand,

Then it is truly good to be alive,

With the Frogs, the Snakes who feed on the Frogs,

And the Rain.

Mostly, this glorious rain,

Which I also enjoyed again, off and on, throughout last night.

Seriously, I really do not believe that some people, who have not directly experienced it, can appreciate just how much of a pleasure it can be to hear the rain coming down like Niagara, and then when it stops and everything outside is green in the jungle,

Even more green and darker green than the jungle, the beautiful frogs and their singing begin.

How can anything man made in the city ever be as beautiful? I ask you

OCH,

I tried to send you a PM. For me at least that part of TV must still be broken.

Another time.

Don't worry,

We all have nothing but time,

When it is raining.

And I assume you got mine.

Can't believe it. Started out nice today, looking like no rain. Now it is raining with the sun out, and not just a little, and it has been ongoing now for about 1/2 hour.

I did my washing because I thought no rain today.

This might make some feel bad on a Sunday.

Not me, I love the rain.

Also, this is a nice rain, compared to the rain we have where I am from.

So let it rain, so let my wash hang in the rain.

It is raining 500 meters west of the end of the runway, approximately.

I heerzzz the thunder.

We've had some rain lately, still not up to snuff though, but this is the first I have heard the serious thunder.....

Well back to the hammock and a good nap listening to the raindrops on the roof.

I am on the river by the Rama IX Bridge. The river is up this morning a little more than half a metre, but no flooding here. For my back yard, has about a metre to go before serious concern.

Now suddenly raining cats and dogs.

I mean it is raining like cats and dogs.

North West of the runway it is suddenly really starting to come down.

Maybe the raining season is now starting for real.

There isn't any here in Pai. Yet. But there was a fantastic stack of lenticular clouds over both mountain ranges forming our valley this morning and that means really high winds aloft from the East. So whatever is coming is coming here fast.

It rain/ drizzle in Hang Dong all day.

Bloody cat come in/out in/out/ in/out and make my floor dirty a lot, maybe tonight is Cat and chips with Chilli sauce!

Wait a MINUTE!

I thought the Raining Season was supposed to be over.

Now all day we got this wind, and drizzle.

Next we got a little more.

And more.

Now it is raining plenty over here west of the northern tip of the runway.

I am not getting tired of this, the rain does not trouble me, overly.

I just prefer the dry air, more than the wet air, but any air is OK,

If breathable.

Anyone know when the Raining Season will truly be over?

It will be good to see it gone.

It is over, this is just the remnants of typhoon Nari that hit the Philipinnes last week, not normal rainy season rain.

I was in CM last year, October 23rd. Maybe a few days of rain the first week, then pretty dry. This year I think it may rain until the end of November, according to some people's guesses. Smoke in March, so hopefully there is at least a few good months coming.

I don't mind a bit more of rain , after a couple of dry days you can see how quickly hard and dry the trees and ground turns, and do love the chilly weather coming in as well , love this time of year .

Me too.

It is nice to have a few hot days, then cool, then a rainy day.

I like the sound of it.

Hasn't stopped raining all night in Hang Dong. For all the folk who started building projects thinking the "wet" season was over you've jumped the gun sadly

What a contrast Dave. And the river has dropped again but still the flood chart has dried up-nothing today yet and only one yesterday.

No golf today so indoor sports I guess -or badminton ....
