Apartment Near Ubon Airport

Recommended Posts

I will be in Ubon city in the next few days staying for 1 month or more. Looking for an apartment/room/mansion with reasonable monthly rate (4000ish) around the airport area. Anyone know of some roads, names or numbers to start looking?

Nothing fancy, fan, bed, bathroom. Hot water and wifi a bonus.

Also motorbike rental, some friends tell me they have been quoted 230 baht a day to rent a bike in Ubon. Are there any places who do reasonable rates for monthly motorbike (115/125cc) rentals?

Thanks.

Check out Padaeng Mansion In Padaeng rd. For more inputs ask in WrongWay cafe across the street.

Also www.weloveubon.com have lots of Ubon info, and you can ask Q on the blog or forum. :)

Was quoted:

Phadaeng Mansion - 6000B p/m + water and electric + deposit 3000.

Aree Mansion - 3500B p/m + water and electric. No washing machines working.

Pan House - 5500B p/m + water and electric, deposit 5500, cleaning fee 600B (monthly), plus two other seperate 500B charges which be refunded 300B each. Could not understand those, my Thai is not that good. Nice pad, lot of cash to put down for a room though! 20B washing machine.

I want to find some Thai apartments, found one where the shop lady said 1500B p/m, but full. But damnit I can't read Thai, where is the "for rent" sign? This is more what I'm after, not so much the price, more the fact I don't want to walk past reception every day of the month and live in a sterile mansion.

I've only found one bike rental on Suriyat Road, a manual 115cc for 3500B p/m. There has to be cheaper options around, where? I think 2000B p/m is reasonable for bike rental. This lady also recommended me to Pans House, so I'm sensing higher end prices here. Just want local style. Room, fan, bed, shower, neighbours. Plenty of free wifi around this town and with mobile internet from 12Call a "room with wifi" is not needed.

Nice town, why are they letting off firecrackers?

Fire crackers were something to do with Buddist Lent and some boat races on the river. More next weekend I believe.

Phadaeng should be 5,000 baht but must have gone up.

Pan house is indeed nice (stayed there for 2 months) but if you are just after something basic then of course there are plenty of other places. Aree mansions washing machines havent been working for ages. Pretty basic place.

Another option is a new building where I think (if my memory serves me correct) is 3,500 baht. It is located in the small street behind the 7 11 (part of a petrol station) which is on uppalisan road near the intersection to the airport.

There is a motel style place called Thatanee Place on Phaloorungrit Rd. about 100 meters from the hospital. Songteow number 10 goes directly past.

4000B p/m + 500B cleaning. Water 200B electric 7B per unit.

Had lots of empty rooms. Reception spoke very little English and told me I can't speak Thai, hahahaha.

He had a funny look on his face when quoting "hok pun". Maybe he needed to fart???

Yeah, they are very nice. What's the deal with the 2 x 500B deposit fees?

but if you are just after something basic then of course there are plenty of other places.

I don't seem to be finding them. I'm asking around for apartments, should I be asking for something else?

I wasn't expecting to come to Ubon to find the best dam_n smoothies in Thailand at U-Bake. Go Ubon!

Did you try my other recommendation yet?

Awk Pansa is the end of Buddhist Lent (rainy season retreat). We have had fireworks, boat races, and yesterday a special event, including procession, at the village temple.

I know someone who has been staying at Phadaeng on a monthly basis (5k) but now has to move out; apparently they are frequently full and are now discouraging monthly lets.

Cheers,

Mike

The place opposite the police "condos" near the 7/11 ? Yeah I asked about staying in the dump across the road but it's for the cops apparently.

That new place is 3,800B + deposit 5000B + deposit 1000B for tv + 500B deposit for key. Electric at 7B per unit and water was I think 25B per unit, but may be mistaken on that point. They have wifi but seems its a package deal and not included in that price.

Nice place but again it's a load of baht to have to lay down.

I'll keep looking.

Okay how about this one?

Just had a customer in for Breakfast who at the back of his place has apartments for rent and he has two available at the moment. Nice location close to Tung si Muang Park. FUll furnished, cable TV etc. Power and water is actually slightly subsidised so cheaper then actually paying the govt rate. Air con is 3500 and fan is 3000 a month.

You do need to supply your own linen though. No cars, only motorbikes.

PM me if you want his number.

Further update on this. After you check in and pay the money, you might get a lease agreement to sign, the full details then become:

Rent 3800 B p/m

Cleaning fee 500 B on check out

Deposit 5000 B refundable by cheque within 60 days

Deposit for key 500 B only 300 B will be returned

Deposit for TV 1000 B

Water 28 B per unit (minimum 100 :D

Electricity 7 B per unit

You have to pay additional months rent at the bank, not at reception.

It would appear the lease to be 12 months.

Any scratches, blemishes, blu tac marks, etc to walls will incur a 500 B charge per incident. Lost keys are 1000 B.

The rooms have air con, fridge, tv, hot water, wardrobe, table/chair, large bed but you have to supply your own linen and pillows.

The internet is by a package that is managed outside the apartment. 500 B for 600 hours, but is quite slow and you can't download torrents and alot of ports blocked so its pretty crap for that price.

What a @#$% up, would suit a long term stay. I should have followed my gut feeling.

Hope this is of some help to someone in the future :)

I just got a bill for 174 units of electricity and I've only been here 2 weeks.

I've been using the fan on the air con (the actual cooler unit outside does not come on), a small desk fan, fluro lights, computer and shower heater only. So 174 x 7 = 1,218 baht for 2 weeks electricity.

Does this seem right in term of electricity usage?

Thinking back to my Bangkok apartment I used the same amount in a whole month and there I used to run a fridge aswell.

I have no aircon, but run 2 fridges, washing machine, fans, well pump, fountain, electric showers, computer, TVs, lights, quite a few garden lights, for about 2000 a month.

Perhaps you inherited un-billed usage from before you moved in.

Mike

1218 baht for 2 weeks? x 2 = 2400 a month which is what I pay and I have one air con on 15 hours a day and another on about 9 hours. You are getting ripped off.

Yeah, but not sure I have a way to actually check myself. Can with the water, but don't see any digits on the electrical unit.

Is 7 baht per unit standard fare around Ubon?

Got someone to query the electricity and received a new bill for ALOT less, the start meter is now higher. 33 units for 231 baht.
