Which Is The World's Greatest City?

Yes, I'd say Bangkok is one of the great cities in the world. It appeals to me, anyway. And I think they got a lot of things right with the listing.

HA! I remember the first time I got the "shoulder massage at the urinal" treatment! Thought I'd maybe wandered into the katoey's loo by mistake! :D

Only in Thailand....

:)

Only Asian cities? No New York, no London, Paris, or Rome?

London is one of the worlds worst cities, it cost 20gbp to go 1 mile in a taxi, if you dare so much as look at someone on the underground youre taking your life into your hands and its 4 gbp to go 1 stop.

Clean hotels in the centre cost a minimum of 150gbp for 2 per night, soho the epicentre of Londons nightlife is a dirty sh7thole frequented by the scum of the world, looking to scam you.

Its full of drunk wanabee badboy middle class boys who have to sniff so called cocaine to enjoy a night out, and full of 3 world immigrants who are at war with one another and anyone they think they can mug. There are no native cockneys living there anymore they live in suburban Essex or Majorca.

Most affordable retaurants are bastardised franchises, and all the football teams are crap.

Id sooner go to jail then live in London! :)

BKK on the other hand is fantastic and is the best place for people watching in the world.

How Bangkok can be ranked up there with Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo as the world's best city, let alone in Asia is beyond me.

Singapore is a FINE city... :)

Latest news there...someone got fined for sucking a sweet on the train.

Talk about police state !

Everythign goes in BKK, nothing goes in Sing.. except the banks and money. And Casinos on the way.

Somewhere for all the bankers to spend OUR well earned $$ :D

BKK? Yeah. Right up there with Grimsby. :D

Ontario? Come on, as much as I hate big cities, I'm happier living here than I would be in Grimsby! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimsby,_Ontario Sorry if there are any Grimsbians (sp?) on here! :)

I think he's talking about the port of grimsby in the UK as in "My wife winked and asked me to kiss her where it smells of fish so I took her to Grimsby"

Early this year I needed to spend 6 days in HK --- when we landed back in BKK I gave serious thought to actually kissing the tarmac.

I cannot possibly live there ...I did so for 12 months and I'm just not suited to living there full time. For me it is a vibrant amazing city--- every time I fly back in my heart peps up and I find a smile spreading over my face.

No other city does anything like this for me --- I love Bangkok :)

Washington D.C. ....America's last colony (they don't have a Representative in congress).

It's got Rock Creek Park winding all through it. Nearly anytime there's gridlock on regular roads, you can nip on down to the park and get from one side of the city to the other in a short time. It's got the biggest and best museums in the world. It's got no factories in the vicinity - the only hot air is issued from politicians. It was designed by a Frenchman, so has many 'circles' that preclude stoplights (like Paris).

Thais haven't figured that out yet. Indeed, Thailand doesn't even have 4 way stops at street corners, because locals would never slow to allow others to go through. Even crossings with traffic lights have much longer waits than need be, because Thais haven't discovered that thru traffic can go both directions, while allowing for green arrows to enable approaching traffic to make right turns simultaneous with each other (at intervals). Sorry to get so serious on a tongue-in-cheek topic, but Bangkok is world renown for having abysmal traffic problems, and just the simple things mentioned above (if implemented) would improve it somewhat.

But with many distateful things, there are always die-hards who will say they love it, no matter what - probably just to be noticed and appear unique. So it goes with eating congealed pig's blood, and so it goes with saying you love Bangkok.

Seriously though, if Bangkok had any decent and sizable parks (let alone a bike path) it might almost be habitable.

The truth be told, several months ago I connected Dan Rivers to a hot Thai hooker so now that the stiff has seen the light Dan's been on the horny and happy prowl since. :)

Now I'm working on Wolf Blitzer. :D

Can't you work on John Bolton and Dick Cheney instead?

Ah, Christianne Amanpour. :D

Yeah, if anyone ever needed a roll in the hay....and a better hairstyle...however, my daddy taught me long ago to know what is possible and to know what is impossible :) .

She was on Colbert recently. She was a completely different person: smiling, even girlish, and a little flirtatious. I was shocked! Shocked I say! I had to double-check that it wasn't Tina Fey impersonating her. Well, back on CNN it's that same face that can scare toothpaste back into the tube.

How about somebody setting Glenn Beck up with a katoey? Preferably a Kenyan one. And ugly. And be sure to take pictures.

Everybody who ever been to Antwerp will be agreed that this is truly the greatest city on this planet.

Its just have everything New-York.London, BKK, Paris, or any big worldcity has, only everything is in walking distance. Its a shopping paradise were you buy your stuff in real shops and not some shoping malls, hundreds of restaurants with food from all over the world, numerous musea, have a beach, a vibrant nightlife, 800 sorts of beer, an excellent public transport, just name it and you can find it in Antwerp.

My deceased wife who was an Bangkokian, and worked and travelled all over Europe and Asia (Zurich, Geneve,Hong-Kong, Osaka, Paris to name a few) found it the best place on earth.
