We came in on a 60 day tourist visa and couldn't get a flight out until the 21st.. our 60 days runs out the 19th.....

Is it worth it to get an extension? How much are the overstay fee's? If possible I would prefer not to have to go to the immigration consular etc. place... Do travel agents do visa extensions as well?

Been searching the forum for answers haven't found any yet... will continue... but if you know off hand would be great...

Also where do I go if I have to extend? To this place? - www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/move.html

Cost is 500 baht per day. Extension would cost 1,900 baht for 30 days. If you are sure of departure the only risk you have is if local police stopped you (highly unlikely) and you will get a note in passport of overstay in Thai (which to date has not been an issue for further travel).

To be completely safe an extension is required that you would have to do yourself at the new location as listed on the link you have in your post.

The overstay fine at the airport would be 1000 Baht for 2 days (per person).

It's not the fine which is your worry, it's the unlucky event something would happen in those 2 days you are in overstay.

If you get caught (maybe just a silly roadblock, or the receptionist at the hotel you stay seeing it and informing immigration, you do know Murphy's law!) then it's not a case of a fine, but getting arrested, appearing before a judge, then getting fined and deported.

With all assorted complications as you'll probably miss your flight, and you will have to rely on friends or others to change your flight as you will be in detention. They will not let you go unless you have this confirmed flight and you'll be escorted onto the plane.

Many people do take the risk and get away with it, but every so often people do get caught and get into heaps of problems.

Extension costs 1,900 Baht per person and you apply depending on where you stay. Most tourist cities have an immigration office, so should not be too much of a hassle. If you are in Bkk then indeed the new office at Chaeng Wattana is where you'll have to go...

The latter solution is what I would advise...

Thanks... or the advice... guess I'll have to make a trip over there.....

So does my wife have to apply (in person) for herself as well? -- Only reason I'm asking is we just had a baby.. and would be nice if I could take care of it and not have to drag us all over there....

We came here for child birth from Phnom Penh---- ?possible to get fee's waived on behalf of waiting for childs passport? wishful thinking.... lol

All parties requiring extension of stay need to attend. You will need completed Form TM7, passport sized photo, copies of your passport photo page, visa page, entry/permission to stay page and TM6 departure card for each application.

No need to apply for extension for baby. Children under 14 are not fined for overstay, but passport will be marked on departure. This will not affect future entry into the country or obtaining another visa at a later date.
