Questions:

1. I live in Bangkok. Do I have to go to that new office on the other side of the planet next to the army base or is there some sort of centrally located fast track office for this?

2. Once I have this yearly visa, what are my requirements? Do I have to report to an office every 90 days? Which office? I recall hearing something about centrally located "fast track offices"

3. Is it legal to use a service or pay another individual to do the leg work for me?

Previously, I have always just left the country every 90 days but my wife is pregnant so I am considering doing the yearly extension.

Yes apply at the new office. You and your Wife have to go in person.

Yes report there every 90 days. It may be possible to do it by post. Or anyone can do it on your behalf.

You can apply for extension of stay based on marriage if you meet the financial requirements, Requirements being 400k in Thai bank account for two months prior to application OR 40k/month income. In the case of income from abroad you will need to obtain an income letter from your embassy. In the case of income within Thailand, you will need to show tax receipts. If using the bank balance option you will need a letter from bank confirming the account balance and copies of bank book.

You should apply during the last 30 days of your permission to stay, bringing with you the wife (for interview), her ID card, tabbien bahn (house book), marriage certificate, photos together around the home, map to home, completed Form TM7, copies of passport/TM6 departure card and current passport sized photos. Some offices are now asking also for copy of marriage register. Cost 1,900 baht. If living in Bangkok you would have to apply at Chaeng Watthana.

Thereafter you will have to report your address to your local immigration office every 90 days, but a representative can handle for you or most offices accept notification by post. If you live in Bangkok you can use either Chaeng Watthana immigration office or the BOI One Stop Centre at Rasa Tower for 90 day reporting.

Is not as bad as it sounds. As long as you have the correct paperwork you should not have any problems.

You may have problems getting a bank account. I have a type 'O', but I cannot get a bank account as the new requirement is for a work permit. At least that's what every bank in Sukhothai told me today...

Some bank branches can be difficult opening accounts. Some branches of the same bank can be accommodating. It's a bit of a lottery. If the first one does not want your business then try the next, but you will get there eventually. It is often helpful to have Thai wife/friend with you. Sometimes the banks ask for a Thai referee. Going to the same bank/branch where your wife/friend has account can usually overcome any obstacles.
