Hi, you all

the following is a bit complex and I hope to get help here.

Over the last few weeks i've been reading many pages on this website and found it very informative in many ways.

My fiancé is thai and I'm australian.

We have been in a relationship for over 4 years , in that time we been to australia twice and

intend to go back for our holiday again mid next year.

Our situation at this point is I work in Bahrain for a airline while my fiancé works in Dubai for a 5 star hotel.

my questions,

how does it affect

if or could

we get married in dubai or bahrain which I have to say not really sure if possible

as my residency visa is for bahrain and not UAE as that in my fiancé's passport would think that we both need the same visa

or residency status to do that.

Or is it better to do all that in Thailand ?

as I would think, that is where we would have to lodge the application for spouse visa for australia ( because she is thai )

or can that be done in any country which has an australian embassy or consulate ? ie. Dubai

Our plans are to be married next year or sooner depending on above, then apply for spouse visa, we both would still be working and living apart

and I travel to dubai on days off as I have been, how will this situation affect the spouse visa ?

How much documentation will we need as proof that we are in a very committed and strong, trusting relationship.

Also with health requirement what exactly is needed for that

will everyone in her family need to see the australian embassy specified doctor for check up ? or just my fiancé ?

in this case very difficult as some of her family in thailand, are all over from north to south , then one in US, one in NZ.

I think I leave it at that for now and see what helpful response comes back from this posting.

thanks

Question. Do you intend that both of you will reside permanently in Australia in the near future?

There is nothing to stop you getting married in Thailand at the Amphur, that part is simple.

Do it when you go on leave together if possible.

"bridge" might have some answers to your questions. I would imagine it might have to be the Australian Embassy in Bangkok for the application.

Yes that is the plan,

we intend to reside in australia by end of next year if all goes well with the visa application.

Some time back we organized all the paperwork necessary to get wed in thailand

ie, translation and so forth is there a time limit on the validity

of the paperwork or does that need to be fairly recent as I think its about a year old ?

You can get married where you want as long as it is recognised in Oz

Or is it better to do all that in Thailand ?

Up to you

as I would think, that is where we would have to lodge the application for spouse visa for australia ( because she is thai )

or can that be done in any country which has an australian embassy or consulate ? ie. Dubai

I believe that it can be lodged at any Oz Embassy, however the police clearance will need to come from Thailand

Our plans are to be married next year or sooner depending on above, then apply for spouse visa, we both would still be working and living apart

and I travel to dubai on days off as I have been, how will this situation affect the spouse visa ?

It should not

How much documentation will we need as proof that we are in a very committed and strong, trusting relationship.

As much as you can supply

Also with health requirement what exactly is needed for that

will everyone in her family need to see the australian embassy specified doctor for check up ? or just my fiancé ?

It needs to be done at an Aussie approved Hospital.....her kids (if any) will need a medical or anyone else migrating with her

in this case very difficult as some of her family in thailand, are all over from north to south , then one in US, one in NZ.

I think I leave it at that for now and see what helpful response comes back from this posting.
