Hi

I live since 17 years in Thailand (legally married, 1 daughter now age 17 years) based on a non-immgrant visa, extented in Thailand every year without any interruptions since 16 years. This year (next month) I should extend my visa for another year but this time I don't have the required 400.000 Baht in my Thai bank account for the required 2-3 months, only short time, what means I have to leave the country the very first time (very sad) to get a new non-immigrant (multiple entry, of course) in Penang.

I read all the requirements here in the forums so my question is:

Does my Thai marriage certificate, my daughter's birth certificate and the letter from my wife to be translated into English language since those documents are all in Thai?

Thanks a lot for your replies!

Regards,

Kun

I would think that they would have copies to check against and would not require translations. I am also thinking of going to Penang for a Multi entry, and have emailed them and received an answer about documents required, however I did not ask them about if they required translations.

No. Take the original Thai documents (and copies) with you. Embassies/consulates are familiar with these documents.

Thanks for your replies!

Just another short question:

In some of the threads here I read that a medical certificate is required, is that so? Further I could read in some threads here the requirement of 400.000 Baht in the Thai bank account, other threads talk about only 100.000 Baht or less.

Medical Certificate not needed.

Bank account needed but less than 100,000 Baht is required. According to reports.

Reports suggest 30k+ in bank account at KL. Not sure about Penang, but suspect more.

Thanks again for your replies, this sounds pretty easy to manage. Still sad to lose my yearly extensions of 16 years already at the local immigration office here in the country...

Should your financial position change, you can apply again for extension of stay based on marriage during the last 30 days of any of your 90 day permission to stay periods. That would remove the need to do 90 day border runs. Good luck.

These days you will need at least 400.000 in the bank to get a 1 year non-imm O for family reasons in Penang.

It is pointless to apply is you only have, for example, 100 - 200.000. You will get a 3 months single entry.

KL might be easier.
