Visa For Thai Girlfriend

Featured Replies

Im in the process of applying for a UK Holiday visa for my Thai girlfriend which hope to get in the next 2 months or so. In the meanwhile there is a possibility I may work in another European country, possibly Ireland or Sweden, so she may end up in one of the countries fro a short stay instead.

What advice would you give as I know the UK visa will not allow her into any of these countries?

Thanks

on a uk visa they wont let her into ireland.and you would have to be living and working there for at least 1 year before they would even concider visa for her.it took me over 2 years to get my girl into ireland and im irish and then only for 90 days

The simplest way would be for her to apply for the appropriate visas before leaving Thailand. Remember that Ireland is, like the UK, not in the Schengen area, so a Schengen visa from the Swedish embassy wont allow her entry into Ireland.

ireland and england two different visas they wont let you in with a visa for uk

Correct, which is why as well as the UK visa she is already applying for she needs an Irish one and a Schengen one if she wishes to visit Ireland or Sweden. The Schengen visa will allow her entry to all the other Schengen states as well.

I don't agree - I took my ex to Italy and I'd never lived there. And a mate took his to Ireland. Same deal. It depends on the circumstances of the application.

This part is a little, possibly largely incorrect.

It is dependent on your application I am afraid, never heard of the working for a year thingy for a VV.

The one year rule only relates to Thais working in Ireland on a work permit. Their spouse and family may join the work permit holder after he/she has worked in Ireland for one year.

With regard to the girl only getting 90 days that looks like a tourist visa. A spousal visa can be obtained for Ireland in Bangkok. Upon arrival in Dublin she would get a one year stamp, renewable.
