Need To Change Visa For Job Type.

OK I got a non-b visa from my Lao with paper wpork from my school saying I was applying for a teaching job. But circumstances changed and I was offered another job in sales. So when mt current job applied for a work permit it was declined because my original application said teacher.

Apart from going back to Lao and getting a new non-b based on my new job is there anyway that this can be changed without having to go back and pay 7,000 baht which I just payed a few weeks ago.

If you still have a valid non-B and you are not on an extension of stay from immigration then there is no need to get a new visa. You can apply for a (new) WP bassed on the non-B you currently hold.

That's what they did but they were declined. So I'm not sure what to do. Does my old school need to cancel the original?

Apparently there is a stamp from the school on the non-b on my passport so that needs to be changed. So it looks like I have to go get a new one.

No, you don't cancel a visa or the permission to stay based on one. Only an extension of stay needs to be cancelled.

Well it's not a 'stamp' but it's right at the top of the visa in small writing in Thai and the admin at my new job say it's related to my old school.

I suspect it has to do with a work permit receipt not being required for issue of that original non immigrant B visa. Such a receipt is required for issue for non teaching positions in the immediate area from my understanding so teachers are likely flagged.

      Man Fatally Shot by Former Friend in Karaoke Bar in Kanchanaburi

      Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A night out ended in death after a man was gunned down by a former friend at a karaoke bar in Tha Maka district, Kanchanaburi province. The suspect later surrendered to police and admitted to the killing, citing a personal grudge. Police were alerted to the shooting at approximately 04:30 on 22 June. Police Captain Chayut Khunritworachai, an investigator with Tha Maka Police Station, arrived at the scene, a local restaurant and karaoke bar in Moo 1, Tha Maka subdistrict, accompanied by senior officers, forensic specialists and medical staff from Makharak Hospital. Officers discovered the body of a man, later identified as Mr. Anupong, 46, lying face up near the outdoor stage area. He had been shot twice, once in the chest and once in the abdomen, with a .38-calibre revolver. His body was transported to Makharak Hospital before being sent for autopsy at Ratchaburi Forensic Institute. Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Anupong had been enjoying the night with four friends in a VIP karaoke room. During their gathering, Mr. Khongdet, 37, a former friend from the same village, entered the room but did not interact with the group. After the group settled the bill and were leaving, Mr. Khongdet unexpectedly drew a firearm and shot Mr. Anupong before fleeing the scene in a sedan. Friends of the victim attempted to assist and rushed him from the room, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching hospital. Later that morning, at around 10:30, Mr. Khongdet contacted Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Chalodet to arrange his surrender. He handed himself in to investigators, along with the .38 revolver used in the killing. During questioning, Mr. Khongdet confessed that he and the victim had long-standing personal tensions. He stated that a verbal confrontation occurred at the karaoke bar, which reignited his anger and prompted him to shoot Mr. Anupong in the heat of the moment. He then fled but decided to turn himself in a few hours later. However, police remain cautious and plan to interview all witnesses thoroughly to determine the true motive behind the shooting. Mr. Khongdet is facing multiple charges, including: • Murder • Discharging a firearm in a public place without cause • Possession of an unlicensed firearm • Carrying a firearm in public without permission or valid reason The investigation continues.
