``He wants foreigners who come here to think Thailand is orderly,'' he said. ``But the Thais are the ones who will suffer.''
like everytime ... in any country! The government has not said how much it is spending on the conference

could they really say how many millions of baths they have spent, without making Thai people angry?

sure not!

Events include a grand flotilla of royal barges on the Chao Phraya river as the leaders watch. Some media reports have said the half-hour show alone will cost about 60 million baht (USD$1.5 million) and twice that amount for security. ($1-39.17 Baht)

her we are ... so much money wasted just to look good and to instate a so called security  :o

Economists say it is hard to calculate the impact of the conference on the economy, although many say the money spent by delegates on hotels and restaurants will not make up for the fall in other business activity.
wish to see a great financial result ... but in how many years this summit will bring improvement for Thai people?, if it does!

and for how many years Thai people will have to pay for this?

Like a nervous host trying to clean house and hide embarrassing relatives before guests arrive, Bangkok has been planting trees, fixing sidewalks and moving tens of thousands of homeless and prostitutes off the city's streets.

The government has also rounded up thousands of stray dogs and taken them to the countryside and sent illegal Cambodian workers home.

military way to clean?

no ... dirty way to do it  :D

and by the way, why not clean bangkok from toxin ...  B)
