Digital Camera Repair

Featured Replies

I've got a Canon digital camera that still displays images off the card but will not take photos or display an image on the screen

Any ideas where it can be repaired

Alyhough I know it might be cheaper/easier to jusy buy a new one

It's ironic that you mention this.

I just had the most amazing service on my Canon Power Shot PS 400.

A near antique, about 6 years old. Uses a compact flash card, 3.2V lithium ion battery. Way out of date; 4 megapixel.

But I want to keep it, as I have a most excellent Canon underwater housing for it, that allows access to all controls, that I use for casual scuba photography.

Started to get error messages; <deleted> photos, misc. problems.

3 days ago I went to Denchai to see if I could get it sorted out.

To their credit, the excellent service rep said that if I had not bought the camera there (I hadn't) they would charge 500 B to forward to the Canon service center.

Under gentle prodding, I established the fact that there is a Canon service center here in CM.

Drove there Tuesday this week, dropped off the camera for a check out.

Yesterday Wed at 8:55 AM received an SMS saying my camera was ready.

Arrived there yesterday around 10 AM.

They had replaced the CCD, a shutter mechanism, and some other widget.

Total charge- Zero. As in Nada. The big donut hole. For what is essentially a brand new camera.

Unbelieveable service, turn around time.

The operating manager there actually bowed down from the waist, Japanese style, when I left.

I can't think of any service experience even close to this in my 57 years. Absolutely the best.

Is there space on your card for more images? I know this sounds stupid but I also know many people never bother to download their images.

I have used them myself on a couple of occasions, and found them excellent. They have "inhouse" servicing for general repairs. but if it's in the "too hard" basket, it goes straight to the main service center in Bangkok which is massive.

Thanks for the advice I took it to the Canon servivce centre who advised it needs to go Bangkok .

Very efficient and friendly

They said they will advise the cost before repair but if very little may be free!

could i ask where the canon service center is located?

i'm a tad lost with this map. i got north is to the right side.

got the airport central mall, ok.

the main road top to bottom is hwy 1141 (mahdol road)

the road labeled chomtong-airport juction-in town is hwy 108 (cm-hangdong rd)

but where is NONG HOUY JUNCTION?

thanks for that, much clearer than the download map from canon.

canon service center is on south side of the superhighway

between airport mall and ping river.

across from the mazda dealership.

Anyone know where Denchai is? I went to Canon Service Center today and they weren't very helpful...

If you have a Canon camera, Mulcahey- Denchai will just send it to Canon anyway, and charge 500B as well.

If Canon service center wasn't helpful, only thing I can think of is that your item is not repairable. Or isn't a Canon product.

See post #2 above for directions to Denchai.
