Hi this is my wife's area, every time we are there we hire from Khon Kaen about 40 mins away, (Topps car rent opposite sofitel, 1,200 - 1,500 for a pickup)

Reason for this, Mahasarakaham does not have any rental places. You can though hire a car with driver on a daily basis, you will

need to ask about for that.

Just to add, Topps offered to deliver a vehicle to us near Mahasarakham, maybe they would give the same service to you.

You would pay extra for this, figure on a 1000.

Here are some options which I think are probably still available.

1. Mahasarakham travel agent which I think does car rental on Khon Kaen side of the three way intersection (City Centre, Khon Kaen, Kalasin), known as 'sam yaaek Kalasin'.

2. If it is just getting from KK airport to MS, the taxi desk at KK airport does limo hire. I paid B800 to Kantarawichai - so say about 1K to Mahasakham centre. A minivan is a bit more - about 1.5K

3. A local business (I think the guy is called Billy) who does pickups. http://www.lotusbackpackers.com/roombookings.htm

I hasten to say I don't have any connection with these businesses. I think there may also be a car hire business on the canal road near the Taksila Hotel back towards the main crossroads. Various other local drivers will do the trip for about B1000, but you really need to know them for this.
