I want to go to Koh Tao from Bangkok by Seatran Discovery in Novermber. But it seems that the on-line booking systerm doesnot work, it always says "no route available for online booking". Anybody knows why?

My guess is that the boats won't be as regular, being that it will be the rainy season & demand will be down.... perhaps...? So maybe no full schedule.......

The alternative would be to use Lamprayah (if you are just passengers with no vehicle.) Cuts out hours on the bus, as it goes via Chumpon.

I suspect that if you tried to book any date, it wouldn't work. I don't think you need to book too far in advance for November, just do it when you arrive.

No need a reservation. Buy a combi ticket train or bus/ferry from Bangkok via Chumpon to Koh Tao. But even that would be not necessary. Just go to Chumpon any way you prefer and take the ferry overthere.

There is no car ferry to Koh Tao and passenger ferries are never fully booked.

Consider also, that November is the monsoon month. It could be that ferry operations are limited because of high waves.

Sorry but there aew 3 separate Ferry companies departing from Chumphon which carry cars and trucks to and from Koh Tao. This is a daily event.

None of these are operated by SeaTrans. Their ferries to Tao are in direct competition with Lomprayah in both speed and arrival times. SeaTrans tend to keep their morning 7am departure from Chumphon but do cut the afternoon service due to lack of customers and/or weather conditiond.

Not only do Lomprayah and SeaTrans get fully booked they are also known to OVERBOOK but this is normally only during peak periods and unlikely in November.

Apologies, thought that there are no private cars allowed in Koh Tao.

There are actually 2 car ferries thatgo to Tao. They sail from the river just outside and sail during the night. :)
