I have a job offer but it requires a move to Taipei. The offer as it stands today does not include a relocation package, it also doesn't include an expat package for apt, kids schooling etc.

My wife is Thai, my 2 children are in early years in education. We all would need visas to live in Taiwan. Prefer to stay here but am not working and am very specialized in what I do so finding an appropriate job here is difficult.

1. Does anybody have an idea of what the move cost to Taiwan would be? Based on us having a reasonable amount of furniture but not at all excessive. We live in a 2 bdrm 94sq meter apt now, which isn't overly full of furniture or books or stuff.

2. Would international schools in Taiwan be of a similar cost to here in BKK? i.e. 300,000 baht/year for good international schools for early years.

3. What is the tax rate in Taiwan?

I'm my assuming Taiwan costs to be approx:

-Apt USD$2000/mo ($24K/yr) (I own my condo in BKK so don't have that expense here and could rent it out for slightly more than USD$1K/mo.)

-Kids schooling about USD$10K per kid per year ($20K/yr) for the both of them per year. (Early years pricing)

-General spending money $2K/mo ($24K/yr).

-Nanny $600/mo ($7K/yr)

-Gas/auto licensing/car mntc ($1K/yr)

-Family trips back to Thailand ($5K/yr)

-misc exp ($5K/yr)

Total exp/yr USD$86K

-Likely need to buy a car ($40K).

-BKK to TPE move USD$10K?????

-Work visa for my family and me $??

One time costs $50K puls work visa costs

As it is now the package offered is about US$165K. Assuming tax of 25% (guess on my part). $124K take home. $86K in expenses is leaves about $38K savings.

This is the initial offer and I imagine it's negotiable somewhat so I am hoping to bump the package up to US$200K and have them pick up moving and visa issues. I still absorb kids schooling and my own living expenses.

That's pretty well the full picture but really the 4 things I'm looking for as mentioned above are:

-Tax rate in Taiwan

-Move to Taiwan cost

-Visa costs for me and my family to move to Taiwan

-Are int'l schools similar in cost as they are in BKK?
