Oil Changes

Featured Replies

How long do you guys wait until you change your oil?

What type, brand and weight do you use?

Where and how much do you spend? DIY or dealer?

When in the U.S. I changed my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles. Which is about 6,000km using 10W-30

Some say I am wasting money and can leave it in until 10,000km which I think is really long for Thailand weather and traffic.

Do any of you leave it in for 10K? I might if synthetic is used but costs about 3x more. Do you guys use 10W-40 or move up to 20W-50. It gets really hot in Thailand and currently really wet.

I've always used synthetic and change every 10K under the regular service in my civic. last change was semi synthetic though (needed to save a bit of money!). I think 10K is still OK for that. I'll monitor the colour of the oil and see how it goes. 140K kms and engine still runs like new. Who still used fully mineral based oils?

Also you can buy the oil you want to use and give to them for the regular service. However the last few times I just used their honda oil.

The general rule is that oil needs to be replaced more often in hot and humid climates. For some models you can still see that European versions recommend oil change every xx,xxx km and down here, it is less. This is correct, IF they state less, then they have reasons for it.

You should move up to 20W-50 here
