Vw Engine Parts

Does anyone know where I can get new parts to build a VW engine, I don't really want to import them from the states if they are available here.

My mechanic that is fixing the rusty floor pans and painting the car says that a lot of parts can be had here but when I ask about the engine he wants to know why I want a larger engine.(uses more fuel). My 68 RHD Beetle has a 1285cc motor in it now and as far as I can determine that is what it had in it when it was registeed here in 1986. These came with 1500cc engines from the factory in '68 not sure why it has the 1285 now, maybe it was cheaper to register with the smaller engine.

I cannot find any english language forums on classic vw's in thailand so getting info from them is pretty difficult. I have a phone number for a Mr Pratak of VWshowtime but only get a recorded message when I call. Their website does not show any engine cases, heads and piston/cylinders.

Not that i like "Jap crap" but in a situation like living in Los you might have to re-think alittle .. have you seen they use Subaru engine´s in some VW projects in Los?

Must be cheap , alot of parts etc.? Yes/No? :)

try ebay uk buddy, loads of cheap beetle parts here, granted you may have to wait a week or 2 for delivery but there are some bargains to be had... not aware of to many subaru convertions for beetles, usually they are just put in diesel camper vans..
