Cambodian Border

Having just completed my second consecutive visa run to the Cambodian border, I'm getting curious about the Cambodian town that's there. The bus from Pattaya doesn't allow for an excursion, so I couldn't venture in.

Has anyone ever stayed there? Is there a bus that goes there? And one that comes back? I mean so you can spend a couple of nights. I guess if you pay the VIP bus 4000 baht, you can schedule a pick up form there on a later day, right?

Is it worth it to stay there for a few days? I don't even know the name of the town.

Maybe it would help a wee bit if you gave us the name of the border crossing. There's more than one you know.

If you're talking about Poi Pet, the Lonely Planet Guide describes it as the armpit of Cambodia. The only reason anyone would want to stay is for the casinos, if you're into that sort of thing. :o

Avoid Poi Pet at all costs because it really is an ugly place where the constant hassle will make you want to slash you’re the palms of your feet.

It’s not exactly welcoming for people wanting to discover more about Cambodia. I'd say it probably frightens more people away.
