Coolest Place In Thailand ?

Featured Replies

So, it's as hot as h ell in LoS now. :o

Who is not complaining about the heat and humidity?

I hear that Cha Am and Hua Hin get a cool breeze off the sea, anywhere else? :D

I gotta go Tak in a few days and it's meant to be roasting up there. :o

Hmm, the coolest place, gotta be up in the mountains somewhere, if we find the right place are you bankrolling a 3 month holiday for us all up there Udon?

Well, it looks like no cool places in Thailand..... Not even Loei? :o

Statistical Loei is supposed to be the coolest province in Thailand, never been though.

Tesco Lotus - Suphanburi - problem with AC methinks.

Sensible answer: Chaing Mai?

Doi AngKhang has the lowest recorded LOS temp........minus 4C

Loei is only cold on top of the mountains. Sometimes the city is the hottest place in Thailand.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm surprised we haven't heard from the Hua Hin-Cha Am mob. :o

the hua hin mob , keep cool

in the air con hilton .

also a decent aftrenoon tea here .

Try Doi Inthanon, little north of Chiang Mai.

I think it is the highest point in the country and quite cool in winter,

frost on the ground!!

Doi Inthanon, I'd say. Ice sometimes, from what I've heard...

Doi Angkhang has a nicer place to stay, though. :o

Getting hot and cramped in the shed Udon? :o

No Penz, it's 19C here today. Brrrr! :D

Maybe I should have qualified my question by asking coolest place to live on the mainland

And if we "give up" the coolest place, next year it'll over-run with dread-locked, smelly backpackers who read about it in "Lonely Planet" or some other hippie guidebook... :o

If anyone thinks Loei isn't cold in the winter you have not been here November through February. I do think Loei hold the dubious distinction of being the coldest place in Thailand. Unfortunately it is also very HOT in the summer.

Seems to be that the coldest places in winter are also the hottest in summer.

As a simple meteorological rule one can assume places near the see to be the most moderate...

not too hot in the summer and not to cold in the winter.

Guess it holds true for Pattaya, can get hot but not the searing heat one gets in Kanchanaburi, and gets chilly in winter but not as cold as in Chiang Mai in the mountains...

I agree with Gary.

I read about Loei being very cool and thought about living there but after a bit of research decided against it because it was too hot in the summer.

I think what Udon wants is the coolest place during the hot saeson not the coldest place in winter.

Correct, Thety,

somewhere where you get a cooling breeze sometime during the day, in this humid weather, that's why I mentioned Cha Am etc.

Patty is out, too close to temptation... & sins :o

it's pretty cool and nice in bkk today. heard that it will remain so for the next few days so take advantage of it and get out there!
