Hope someone can help.

My "other-half" has to renew her Thai passport.

We live in UK, she's Thai and has "indefinite leave to remain" here (which sounds a bit of a contradiction in terms, to me - :) ).

Contacted Embassy in London and told to print off form from website and complete.

Printed it off, but neither of us can read Thai.

I've attached the form and also attached one I've blanked out.

We'd be really grateful if someone could help out with the questions it asks:

I've also attached a version with the Thai blanked-out:

And a version that I've converted into MS Word format for easy editing (but not sure this can be uploaded - we'll see :D ):

Thanks in advance. :D

KKK Briggsy,

You're an absolute brick.

:)

One other thing now, tho'.

She has her mum's ID number, but not her dad's (he's deceased). How do we write "deceased" in Thai, please?

:D

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure of the formal way. Here are some ideas. You can add the date of his death also. He would have had an id card number though.

ตายแล้ว dtai laeo (+date) ("ordinary" Thai)

เสียชีวิตแล้ว seea cheewit laeo (+date) (more formal Thai)

ผ่านแล้ว pharn laeo (+date) (not 100% sure about this one, literally "passed away" somewhat euphemistic.)

Barmy thing about bureaucracy though is that this will be her 5th passport renewal, or so. Yet she still has to repeat the old information that they should already have (in quadruplicate, no less).

Same thing applies when renewing our own passports, so not just a Thai nonsense.

Each time she applies, she has to notify them that her father is dead - which is quite a terminal state to be in as well as being pretty irreversible (unless I've missed something). If I thought they'd see the funny side, I'd suggest she tells them he's now feeling a lot better again and will be applying for a new ID card in due course. :)

PS. Thanks again.

Well if it's her fifth passport, it should theoretically be straightforward. The bit about the father not being Thai had me worried there.

Yeah, last few times she's renewed it, she's been able to do it by post with no problem but the new biometric passport requires renewals to be done in person, at the Embassy.

Plus, the forms appear to have changed. Although, I have to say that, compared to my UK one - which I recently renewed - the single-page Thai Application form is a piece of cake (apart from it being written in Thai - no blinkin' consideration, if you ask me). :D:):D
