Hi all,

I'm coming to Thailand with 30-day TR visa. During these 30days I'd like to visit Ankor Wat/Cambodia for 3 days (by bus) and then return back to Thailand (by bus as well).

Thai embassy refused to give double-entry visa as I don't have flight ticket for 2nd entry and I was said that they grant visas only if flight tickets are submitted.

Aranya Prathet border point seems not to handle VOA, so once my visa is used I can't get back to Thailand through this point. :)

I have an idea of getting re-entry permit at Phuket Immigration Office and using it to get back via Aranya Prathet border.

Could anyone confirm that I'm not allowing any mistakes in my assumptions?

Many thanks in advance!

I assume you are from one of the countries that get a 15 Day VOA (since you talk about 30 Tourist Visa).

You should have no problem getting a re-entry permit, remember that this only protects your current permit to stay, it does not gain you any more time.

Enjoy :)

@Crossy

Thanks for your prompt reply! :D

You're absolutely correct about my country being on VOA list.

My total time in Thailand is exactly 30 days, so I don't expect any problem there.

I just wasn't sure that it's easy to get Re-entry permit with Tourist visa and 2nd entrance via Aranya Prathet with re-entry permit/TR is OK.

Edit - as you say you are from a VOA country above is what you will need to do. There is often misunderstanding of calling visa exempt entry VOA.

I misread and though you were talking about a 30 day visa exempt entry rather than a Consulate visa entry of 30 days (very few countries have that 30 day limit now).

Well, just to make myself clear:

I can get 15-day visa on arrival (VOA) at the airport but my first part of stay in Thailand (before Cambodia) is 20 days, so I applied for 30-days TR visa at Thai embassy. Unfortunately Aranya Prathet cross-border point doesn't issue VOA. That would clear all the hassle. :)

WARNING Will Robinson!!!

A re-entry permit maintains the original exit date (30 days after your first arrival), so if your stay extends beyond this date you'll have to ask for an extension at immigration (1900 Baht).

Those from 'normal' countries will get a 30 day extension of their 60 day TV, sorry I don't know about those from a VOA country (one could reasonably assume 15 days).

Believe we were talking about extension of his tourist visa. Original entry is only 30 days but should be able to extend stay.

Thanks guys!! :D

No extension will be needed unless something really goes wrong.

If it does, visa extension most probably will be rather minor concern comparing to the reason, which requires it. :)

How long time is needed at Patong Immigration office to get re-entry permit?

Can I face any problem with re-entry permit on Thai border? Are they accepted on at all cross-border points of Thailand?

I'm sorry for these stupid questions but I've never used it before.

Many thanks in advance!!
