Apt That Won't Nickel And Dime Me To Death

Anybody know of an apartment in BKK within walking distance or a short motorcycle taxi ride of the MRT or BTS. I need a parking garage, internet, pool, fitness and everything else included for 7-8K Baht or less? I have looked at numerous places that state a cheap price then tack on 10 extra hidden charges. I want to know what everything will cost up front.

I want a clean building, fair price with fair management. Size isn't a big issue, but I would like a balcony to look out over the city.

Thank you

Mate you had better ask a mod to close this one quick fast as you are gonna get caned by all the wisecrackers on here :)

Seriously though you will find it VERY hard, if not impossible to find all that for that price anywhere near the city. I would say definately forget the pool and fitness idea straight up. It aint gonna happen unless you up the budget to around 15-20.

To give you an idea, it is possible to get a very basic room for 5000-7000 if you take somewhere a bit further out from the city...say for instance targetting a place within a 30 minute radius from an outer BTS station.

I pay around 6000 per month all up where i am now..and thats including power & water, air con, rental of fridge and tv,internet and cable tv...BUT its not a huge room and pretty basic but not a dump either.Still ive found it good value for a few months. Its near large shopping centres and is managed as a family business with nice people.

I know of a place out here with fitness and pool for 8000 but the room is basically empty and you would have to provide most of the other stuff yourself. So you will find this to the biggest drama...getting a suitable place that has ALL your requirements as some will have cable but no internet, or some will have tv but no cable or no fridge ect ect

The place i found had all of my major requirements but with the one drawback of not having hot water, which isnt a big drama most times of the year anyway.

The other problem is that when you go hunting for places a bit further out you will need to know some basic thai or have a thai speaking friend do the talking and enquiring as many places do not speak English.

good luck

OP did not say 7-8 grand a month. He could have meant 7-8 grand a week... :)

Fair point trogers..that would make more sense for what he is after.

I guess most people here get used to talking monthly whereas in other countries everything is weekly or fortnightly

7-8K Baht per month yes. For sure in other countries that would be per week. But I have been in Thailand long enough to know that I can get a half way decent place for 7-8K Baht per month. I just don't know where those places are in BKK. Thank you!

You can have all this for 9k and only 500 meters away from the new BTS Wong Wian Yai .

I stayed there in July, nice pool and gym , and safe parking. WiFi Internet is 500 baht.

Pool and Fitness Centre free .

Check it out.

I think you need to forget the fitness for that price..... but you can find a nice studio with gym around a BTS for that price...You should look around Mo Chit area...i lived there for 3 years in 2 different condos.

SBK in Lat Prao starting from Mo Chit its about 1/2km on the right hand side (roof pool with gym!(one bench and no weights!)

La Maison condo soi 22/24?? Phayon Yothin (behind tesco) Big Green glass building... Very nice place lovely pool overlooking believe it or not the entrance to a university! Yes, my home for 2 years overlooked a university! Heaven!

There you go..... but maybe you are wanting closer to sukhumvit...that i don't know about...but Central Lad Prao area is a nice place to live...Ratchada has similar condos too...

Large shopping centres/jj market/lovely parks/ less traffic jams/great night life/mo chit bts and underground.....

To be honest every time i end up in Sukhumvit for what ever reason..i cannot fathom out why people want to live there...overcrowded..massive traffic jams....it beats me...

It is the OP's request for "...everything else included...a balcony to look out over the city" that you cannot find sure a place. Remember his post is '...would not nickel and dime me to death'.

I would deemed everything else to include a phone line, free parking, free internet, free pool and gym, and free cable TV. And look out over the city would mean a high floor, at least 6th floor or higher in outer Bkk, and over 12th floor in inner Bkk. Only thing not included would be water, electricity and telephone charges.

Ah...you are starting to nickel and dime him... :)

9k room has no free fitness and sauna. Electricity charges is at double the govt rate, at Bt8/unit.

No mention of cable TV.

Is your balcony looking out over the city for a 6-floor building?

The OP has asked a question. Let's keep it civil and attempt to answer his questions constructively.

The OP isn't the one who will get in trouble for unsuitable replies--it's the one posting it.

Hi Op,

Yes you can find, very easy. Depends on wants, needs etc. as the saying goes here in LOS "Up to you".

Mee Chai Mansion 522/163 Soi Songprang Asoke-Dindan RD Dindang bangkok (P)022471311, it is about 3 block behind fortune. Would this place nickel/dime you , no idea, however I had a list of the charges, all seemed reasonable. If you go to the 1st street at the end of fortune on Ratchada rd. make that left , ask any of the guys at the taxi stand they can take you over for 15 baht, as I think it's about a 15 minute walk. I found (5) places like this or BETTER, took me about 30 minutes, just took a smile, and some thai language, mine is very limited!

bldg (1) Room 4,200 baht; bldg (2) 5,000 baht

Gym/pool 500bht

Internet Not sure on price, however they do have, just do not want to misquote you a price

Fridge rental 500 bht , tv rental 500 bht

My thoughts on this apt complex, apt, bldg ok (clean) , fitness ok (it is what it is), pool (I would not swim in it, then again, I am not you).

My suggestion, talk to some guys at the taxi stands near the area that you would like to stay (they know).

Well I just moved into a serviced Apartment 7 minutes walk to Surasak BTS on Sathorn rd. I pay 7000 baht per month and get my room serviced 2 times per week. It is an old building but they have fixed it up quite nicely now. Beautiful entrnce and lobby with garden setting, pool tabe and fooz ball table 20 baht for pool gave and 10 baht for foozball, Nice restaraunt with ok food and room service. Little over priced for the Thai menu. Receptionist speak English fairly well, Security cameras, 5 floors plus an extremally beautiful roof top with small swimming pool and full gymnasium, tables and chairs where I play guitar and chill out and the view is a million dollar view of the Bkk Skyline. rooms for 7k per month are about 28sqm and I have a window that also looks out into Bkk. TV, Cable channels, Fridge, Micro-wave and decent bed. Clean rooms I think. As far as being nickled and dimed to death I figure that will happen anywhere you are. I keep to myself, turn my main water tap off when Im not using water, Dont use the in room phone, Dont order from the restaraunt unless im super hung over etc dont play pool etc so I think its how you play the nickle and dime game anywhere. Preventive Maintenence so to speak. Anyways I have never done this before but I'll try to post some pics here but you can also visit http://sathornsaintview.com/

Good luck.

I forgot to mention that Internet is 700 baht per month but I signed 6 month contract so its free for me. All floors have 2 modems and also the roof-top and main loby reception restaraunt area all have wi-fi plus there is a small room with a couple of computers i think 20 baht per hour.

Actually its free to use the pool and gym when you have a longterm contract, just ask in the reception.

You can watch the pool from the balcony , no city view I'm afraid.

For the price and location it's worth it.

Thanks Guys,

I guess we have a tough crowd here. Thanks to those that are helpful and actually want to help. I have found a place with car park, fitness, a pool, and internet for 7000 a month behind Justco on Ratchada. This is if i commit for a year, 7500 if for three months. It has a decent balcony as well with a descent view of the city. I suggest that those who spend 24/7 to bash others here should go out and find some Thai friends and a few hobbies as well.

Thanks,

Sam

I have stayed at Aiya residence and would highly recommend it, I stayed in building B up the back its a bit more expensive but the rooms are big and well worth the extra, I stayed in the front rooms for only one night and it was a little crappy, I would get in there as now the BTS is open they have already started putting prices up. Has a really wide variety of people staying there and probably a couple of dozen farang. I have fond memories of the place I met my girlfriend while staying there a couple of years back.
