sbk
OK, other famous guy I met, I was in the Samui airport and this Thai guy walked in, I thought, "gosh he looks like one of those guys on tv" not having a tv, I was unsure until I saw all the Thais sit up and look. So, lo and behold, I am in the same row of seats with him. He's at the window, Thai lady in the middle, me at the aisle. They start talking in Thai, I eavesdrop. She catches me eavesdropping and asked me if I spoke Thai. I admitted we all started chatting. Nice guy, but I was unsure as to what his name was at the time, but did recognize his face (Nino, now has a popular gameshow, but was on the soaps for quite a long time)
eek
^ I like that one. I did "see" in close proximity the PM (Abhisit, not Thaksin! ), the Crown Prince, his wife, and child. Was in Emporium about a month ago and the whole area became corded off and lots of decorated men appeared. The funny thing was only me and two Filipinas were sort of stranded in the uncordened area where all the uniforms were. They just let us sit there...was very surprised. I gave the PM my biggest smile (he was very cute!) and believe it or not, i got a smile back. Apparently the Royals were there to do some shopping. So red carpet needed to be put down and lots of security and lots of bowing etc. I cant imagine having to go through so much fuss just to do my shopping. Anyway..only got one not very good pic in before I knew what was going on. Just shows when more uniformed guys starting to come out. I was wondering what was going on. Then i was told that i cannot take photos. So this was all i got:

Even though he was there eating with his family, he took time out to do an impromptu performance and went to every table so people could take pics. Nice bloke. jazzbo
Well not in LOS -- as a few others have posted here -- but in NYC and posted 2 years ago on Farang Pub for Kuhn Bulmercke: I was walking down the the Central Park 'West Drive' in NYC -- it must have been on a weekend as the road was closed to traffic. I then lived on 57th street a few blocks west of Carnegie Hall (How do you get to Carnegie Hall?? PRACTICE!) As I was taking a brisk walk heading south, I looked to my left and there on a bench near the Dakota site (W 72nd at Central Park West) were John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Sean who must have been about 4 at the time. I slowed down my walk a bit, but being a true New Yorker at the time, I never broke stride. I said to JL: HELLO! and smiled and he smiled and said HELLO! back. I kept walking and that was it. It was quite near the area of the Park off West Drive now known as 'Strawberry Fields' item 'W' on the map here and obviously named in his memory. http://www.centralparknyc.org/site/PageServer?pagename=map -- (ZOOM in and pan south and west)

Spent a day with Bangkok Bank Chairman of the Board. He too was creepy. On the brighter side. 3 Carabao members including Ad, music and film star Film, and Paula Taylor. Oh, and 2 of the Princesses and some regional Chaos. Edited November 17, 2009 by lannarebirth

Thaddeus
Met Gary Stretch recently and a great guy too,and Brian Jacks is a fantastic man.I think most of us have met Jimmy White though. Jimmy White twice..... Gary Stretch, just the once but that was in a chippy in St. Helens, and he was face down on the floor after a rugby player punched his lights out for being an obnoxious git. NOKIA6969
Cant think why Ministers are famous, there only around for 5 mins Not sure where to begin. Had drinks (several) with Loso - great band BTWCarabao a couple of times in Chiangmai when he was a major thorn in the side of the government. His Majesty King Bhumibol at university graduation ceremonies (at a distance though) HRH Princess Sirindhorn Paveena Hongsakul - suspect it is someone sbk would like to meet also. Minister of Education Minister of Agriculture Hesitate putting this one down, but - PM (at the time) Thaksin. I'm sure there are more, just the more memorable ones that I've talked with. BTW - one of the advantages of working at a major university research center.
Tinkelbell
Quoted ...." Cant think why Ministers are famous, there only around for 5 mins ..." ........................................................................ THAT because you're not a native Thai. Your thinking is different from us-Thais. You're a mear foreigner who may be just arrived and probably has lived here not very long, not much associate with an educated ruling class Thai neither, I recon. In your eyes, your Thai ministets last only 5 minutes. But in Thai eyes, my ministers ( Khun Bunyat, Dr. Trirong, Khun Prachuab, Khun Sutust etc) last over 3 decades. They still active in politic ( Democrat Party) up until present. ..." working at a major university research center." I bet you're not working at Thammasart U. for sure, otherwise you would sing a different tune. ...."Not sure where to begin." How about begin with taking a Thai language lesson ? You need it. mahtin
Once flew to BKK with the cast of a porn movie (I was not a member of the group). Sometimes when I tell that story people say "Why didn't you stop to talk with him?" I say that it would have spoiled the moment and then he might not have been so friendly... besides he was just enjoying a lovely day out with his family...
