I don't know how you get away with bringing in 10 Carton's at one time - I never buy any but the Driver's always ask me to carry there's for them in case we get stopped, and one time we did, and the police got inside the Minivan to check - so be careful.

I dont cross the border, I sit and have lunch and they are delivered to me.

We did not get stopped at the Border itself, we got stopped on our way back, there are a couple of checkpoints on the Road, about 10 mins from the Border, and we had to pull over.

The Guard/Police got inside the Minibus and check all our bags, and looked at all of our Passports.

Having said that,, I have been going for 8 Years and its the first time we was stopped.

By the way, are the LM Blue ok?? I fancy giving them a try next time I go. I normally smoke the Red but cannot smoke them from there, they kill my throat.

Yeah never been stopped, i guess they kinda know i didnt cross the border as iam usually heading back out within 30 minutes.

L&M Blue, grab a carton and try em, i reckon they aint too bad, cant say the same for L&M reds and greens though, all the Molboros are rank as well.

Hi

I also buy a carton of L&M blue when I do a Cambodia visa run.

Used to pay 150 baht but last time the shop wouldn`t budge down from 180 baht.

I find them to be OK,never tried any of the other types/brands.

did you count the cigs in the pack?? we bought some last year in Cambodia, and there were only 16 to a pack!! so not quite the deal that we thought!. BTW, the original post was quite old, so maybe no one is reading it anymore.

I think that the cheapest places to buy cigarettes is Model City Supermarket on Beach Road; 540 Baht per carton. can anyone beat this?

I can, I get my cigarettes, beer and water delivered by a Thai whole-seller, the same type of service that supplies the small Mom & Pop stores and pay 525 for L&M Red. It is great, one call and I get next day delivery and no carrying up beer or water for a month.

Cambo smokes = 210 ciggies to the carton @ 180b ea

VS

Thai smokes = 200 giggies to the carton @ 540b ea

jeez its been ages since Ive done a ciggie run.

Ban Laem (Cambodian border): THB 150 for a carton L&M.................made out of buffalo-hair.

Taste can not be compared with the real thing, but it smokes.....and that's what counts.

These Cigarettes from the Border are Terrible, absolutely the worst Cigarette I ever had.

Talk about throat nippers - jeez.

I would not entertain them if they were free !!!

LM Menthol from Ban Laem (Cambodian border) @ 150 baht for 10 packs are fine, try smoking the Thai Brand 'Wonder' cost 40 baht per pack of 20 these are throat nippers...

Anyway its good so many do not like the Cambodian border Cigs, as 2 or 3 people will carry them as they do not buy themselves :D

Hi

Yes, 14 cigs to a pack, 15 packs to a carton so 210 cigs total carton quantity, as of last month, 5% more than a thai carton.

I prefer the smaller pack size.

BTW the visa run minbus was stopped on the return, didn`t get searched but the visa run guide said it has happened

and a big fine could be imposed if bringing in more than the 1 carton allowed.

got a lady in one of the casinos in poi pet that sells me and the wife a carton of LM se deng for 90 baht.

then whilst waiting in the bus station for our ride back to bangkok picked up a carton for 120 baht. all ten packs to a carton, 20 cigs to a pack. they will even get them over the boarder for you if you have the right contacts and keep them with separate members of the tour group, in case the bus gets stopped at a check point on the way back.

its like anything in thailand. the authorities like to portray to the outside world and media that they are coming down hard on illegal activities, but the truth is though that they are as big a part of it as the people that are running the show.

Seasia, maybe you are right. I didnt count the packs, just the cigs, because the pack looked awfully small. Our mini van also got stopped on another trip to Lao, not really searched, but they took a very good look. and did the passport check. I try to be extra careful about those things now, too poor to pay a fine, and too old to do the time.
