Mio Moov 300

Featured Replies

Out of the box this product does not allow addresses to be entered with English letters, when contacting Mio support, they just say "not possible". But can that really be true?

I would think there might be a firmware update available that enabled this feature, if not then it's totally useless for expats I guess.

Even the Garmin units in Thailand have trouble with the search function (addresses) so your not alone. Has to do with the map used and data base. Is the map in English, or Thai only?

Actually I don't know that (it's not mine, I'm asking for someone else), but I know that the menus and speak is in English.

The issue is probably that the menu and device language supports english.. But they never bothered to create a transliterated Thai version of the map.

If they havent made a database of road names in romanized font, even if the GPS device handles english, the map data cant be searched.

In Thailand (until viable other options arise) buy garmin. I am sure with tomtom coming to the iphone and other maps appearing this may change, but for now garmin has a huge head start.

Does the Mio use Power Maps for Thailand? If so, there's definitely a setting to change language, but if the menu's in Thai script, then it's a case of finding it! However, even if you can find this setting & change the language, you still have to have English language maps. They are separate to the Thai language maps and have to be loaded separately, otherwise you can't search etc. I'm running Power Maps on WM6 & with the language set to English, an English language voice selected & English language Thai maps loaded, it all works quite well. Good luck.
