Thai Legal Question: Power Of Attorney

Just curious if anyone knows whether a US notorized legal letter authorizing power of attorney would be recognized by the Thai government. My wife has title to a pachyderm and in Thailand, and perhaps in one or two other soverign nations, such ownership titles must be registered at the local Amphoe much like a land title. As ownership of such wonderful beasts has become rather centralized over the past decade, we may be forced to sell our beloved family member but we are trying to find out whether we can assign power of attorney to another family member to avoid having to make a special trip to the Kingdom solely for this sorry purpose.

Your US notorized letter won't work. You'll need a Thai power of attorney document which is a straightforward document. The Thai Embassy in DC

can do it, as can most Thai Consulates in the US. Good luck.
