What wound most people up was that your article was the same old recycled 'Mean Streets of Pattaya' sh1t which has been written 1000 times before. Utterly pointless.
Some people like yourself may have got wound up, but there are many people in Pattaya and especially outside in the provinces and cities - like Bangkok - who will whole heartedly disagree with you and support the article and opinions of people supporting it. These people understand important issues.
however all you raised was angry responses to the lame negativity of your piece.

See above. Again, this is your opinion. Many others will disagree with you.

In supposing your article would raise debate and awareness about corruption, mafia activity and prostitution (of all types) etc. you are misleading yourself. Everyone who has even a slight knowledge of Thailand will know that these issues have existed and been debated for decades.
Interestingly, what qualifies you to act as an expert and pass such judgement? Aren't you now being like me? - If things are to change and develop in this wonderful country then people need to continue to raise issues - especially where people are victims of exploitation, abuse, scams, or corruption. If people like yourself take the attitiude of boredom and anger every time someone brings the subject up - this itself only perpetuates difficult situations, especially for those innocent, poor people who are harmed, abused or exlpoited. But if you think this is dross, as you said it was, and if you are bored and irritated at hearing it yet again...just ignore it, or continue to knock those people who put their necks on the line to try and raise awareness for the benefit of others in less privileged positons.

Unlike yourself, some people don't find this utterly pointeless.

No matter what your intentions were in writing the piece, the end result was as has been said, a rather lame cliched article.

Again, this is your opinion. It is a case of perception and we all perceive things differently.

I note that you say this is your final say on the matter, however you have yet to answer any of the charges put to you in the other posts.
Difficult to continue when your good self is given the last word and the case is closed after it. Just because a member does not like a topic that someone posts - or if it hits a raw nerve - it is not necessary to try to sabbotage the debate or, for example, by passing indirect messages; hence, making indirect threats to the poster. Such people should calm down and try not to get so wound up. Heated debate is often healthy and necessary. Otherwise, what's the point of having a forum?
Therefore we can only conclude that you are admitting the charges levelled against you for churning out this dross, through your inability to back up your article in any way.

I am not going to reveal my people sources. It would be wrong to do so, and a pretty low thing to do. Interestingly, why don't you conduct a survey. Go to Bangkok or the provinces and ask normal Thai and farang people what they know and think about Pattaya, then Post the results. Yes, there are many positive things about life in Pattaya, but there are many negative things also which should be raised not ignored, for the sake of others, and positive development.

The main reason for my bile at your dribble was that especially in this time of post Tsunami difficulties, Thailand needs some positive coverage in the media, not sh1t like your article. Shame on you. Shame on the Guardian. Stick to teaching and do something positive for the country which is now your home.

It's a pity you have turned to gutter type politician rhetoric by relating my and other peoples' opinon to a completely unrelated matter: that of the Tsunnami disaster. It is almost an insult to those poor people involved to use it as an excuse to undermine the article, me or other people. You obviously see yourself as one of the priveleged few, but ask many of the scammed, the exploited, the ripped off, and the abused of the population and they will tell you that raising awareness about such issues (which you don't like) is in fact doing something positive for the country. To ignore issues, or become irritated by them, to the point where you feel you have to try to undermine people who try to raise awareness and give people a voice through public debate, is tantamount to perpetrating such acts as mentioned above - and this attitude does not contribute positively for the country. It slows down positive development, because positive change is never allowed to happen. Change only occurs when things are brought into the open and debated, not when they are brushed under the carpet. But i is true, positive hings need to be highlighted too.

I would love to discuss all this with you, but now let's leave it. Quite clearly, some things we obviously think the same about, and on others we do not. But in some areas I feel we have got our wires crossed, perhaps through misunderstanding.

I find this utterly pointless, why start a new thread just to put your points over? In what is this utterly pointless thread related to? Maybe try posting your answers in the original thread instead of starting a new one?

Careful friend, lest this thread be renamed to "Sinbad leaves again"
