Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help guys, Lumpini it is then. Prices seem to vary wildly, are there not official ticket boxes or do they too make up the price as they go along? I read thats it goes from 400thb up to 1,500 thb (ring side) is this correct or does it depend on the night?

Thanks

Correct but if you go with any thai company let them buy the tickets first before you arrived, a ringside ticket costs will be sold to Thai people for 1,000 saves you 500 :) (a few beers).

Hi all,

I was actually at lumpinhi stadium last saturday for the first time(evening card) and was a little underwhelmed to be honest. I paid 1600 baht for ringside seats since they didn't seem to be selling the 3rd class tickets at the windows. Atmosphere wasn't that great as there weren't that many people and the weight classes seemed to all be very similar.

I'm trying to research for the next time I go, but does anyone know of any can't miss events coming up? i'm tryin to slowly research the champions of the stadiums and figure out when they fight, but any advice on some great events cominn up would be very appreciated! tickets seem to be standard 2,000 ringside, 1500 2nd class and 1000 3rd class (when they are actually selling them) so its a good deal of money and I want to make sure its a decent card before I commit. I'm new to bangkok so maybe making some thai friends who are into muay thai would help the cost.

Thanks for your help.

you wont be able to get a Thai friend to buy the ticket im afraid as they can see what ticket it is when you go in. As for good nights, tuesday or friday's are the better nights, the saturday night shows tend to be more a testing ground, for younger less experienced fighters, the promoters don't tend to take much of a risk as there are a lot of televised fights at the weekend and the punters tend to stay at home. The midweek shows are not televised so draw bigger crowds and they put the bigger names on then. There wont be any too big shows now though as close to new year and promoters again scared that many people will have gone up country so wont be so quick to put on the higher paid fighters on the cards. In January the bigger card will start again.

Thai boxing fights are unfortunately marketed heavily to tourists and as a result you get these inflated prices. $50 is way too much for any random night. I could understand paying that amount if one (or more) champs were fighting but on a random night with random no name fighters it makes no sense. The clerk admitted to me one time, that the reason why foreigners pay so much more is that the Thai visitors are mostly gamblers which probably bring in tons more in revenue. It's a sad state and I have often wondered if they only put on fights for the sake of the gamblers. Also noticed several fights that seemed blatantly fixed to pad a fighters record and poor decisions.

I think the only thing to do if you want to go is to research carefully for when the fights are defending their belts and then negotiate a deal with the touts outside, should be able to get ringside for 1200-1300 baht.

Is there a fanatical farang blog/website that deals with the details of the thai boxing. It would have detailed discussions on each thai boxer, their current performance, the inside gossip, photos, the stats....

there must be...
