travellife
Is there a bus from Pattaya to Cambodia to do a visa run? I have a 60 day visa that needs to get stamped. I prefer to take an organized bus trip, rather than book a normal bus to the border and do the crossing myself. The cost is not that much different. Jack's Golf runs from Bangkok, but I thought there was some other bus service from Pattaya to Cambodia? Thanks for the help
whatchamacallit
A company called "Visa Run" - call them at 085-287-4588 - cost 2000 baht, they'll pick you up between 6:00 - 7:00 am in a 7-passenger van. About 3 hrs each way and they'll feed you lunch at the casino's restaurant at the border then take you back to pattaya arriving between 2:30 - 3:30pm. Sorry have no contact data. The visa runs to Arunyaprathet/Poipet used to take 4 to 5 hours each way but things have improved and I know that the soi 13 lot return mid afternoon. I don't know of a bus, all the trips I know of, including Siem Reap, us minibuses.
quisie
I use Good Tour and Travel, they start the pick ups around 6AM, usually clear Pattaya about 7AM. Meal at the casino, back in Pattaya by around 15:00. They do all the paperwork etc. Highly efficient They use 9 seater mini buses/vans and are very comfortable. 085-2874588 086-5408075 There's an office in the city and one in Jomtien where you can book seats. The Jomtien one is a couple of doors down from the 711 by the Hanuman :-)

Any other numbers, or a website? I read online the van trip takes about 4 or 5 hours each way. A minivan trip to the nearest border post at Ban Pakkad does not take 4 or 5 hours. You'll leave at 7 am and be at the border at around 10am including a 15 minute toilet/coffee break along the way. You'll be back at home sometime between 2 and 3pm. A minivan trip is as comfortable as a bus, but of course that ultimately depends on the type of bus vs minivan. You could take a public bus to Trat and then a van to the Had Lek/Koh Kong crossing (1.5 hours each way), but you'll be spending 12 hours or more to achieve what you can do in about 7 - 8 hours by minivan if a bus is really important for you. You'll have to deal with corrupt border officials on your own there. Another option is to take a bus to Bangkok and then a casino bus to Poipet. My visa run is fast and efficient and costs 1800 with lunch included. I would never pay more than this for a visa run to Cambodia. The minivans I travel in allow the back seats to recline all the way to horizontal so you basically have a bed. You can't beat that in a big bus. Not too comfortable I guess. Not malicious question. How many seats? How much space? I also prefer a bus but if there are more comfortable solutions I would be happy to know. In my reply I specifically stated the back seats. 3 rows of 3 seats. Obviously there would be a restriction on how far back you can recline on the forward seats. Prefering a bus is irrelevant as no visa runs from Pattaya use buses. Those days are long gone.

bangkokburning
I've diy'd to Aranyapathet on the big yellow bus, ive diy'd on local buses picking up a mini in Chantaburi. In the end. you really don't save any money and if you can't speak any Khmer and Thai it may be more dear. I don't want to hassle giving ou the logistics. pretty tedious but there are the routes so have at it. Just use Cambodia-Inter in Pattaya. Trat is really long way and the xing can be really scam ridden - even more than the latter - if that is possible.

If you know, how long can I stay in Thailand (coming from USA) if I go there on a one-way ticket and just have 30 days to stay initially. If I want to stay in Pattaya for several months, can I just keep making a visa run to the Cambodian land border as many times as I want. Is there a limit? Basically what would be the cheapest way to stay in Thailand for 6 months or more, in terms of immigration costs. Also is the 90-day limit out of a 180-day period no longer applicable? Thanks for your help. Onwardbound
lopburi3
You are likely to remain on the ground as most airlines will not fly you on a one way ticket without a visa. Visas are free and allow a 60 day stay. There is no limit on number of days per any time anymore. Tourist visa trips to Vientiane are the most used system for cheap stay for an extended period. bangkokburning
If you come in on China Airlines you may not be asked for a visa. Another ploy might be to purchase a ow to say...Manila on Air Asia. But that is as exxy as a ticket out. Visas are said to be free so you can get a double for <us40 for the mailers. Why bother with all these complications. That potentially can be extended to six mos. People raise this how many time can I border jump thing. It's a red herring: You WILL get hassled at the border eventually. Like ...FAST. They are under no obligation to let you in. You will need a visa to neighboring country us20 Cambodia minimum, us35(?) Lao minimum. Even if you go to Malaysia, from anywhere north of Chumpon you have some serious time and transport fees. Then you need to deal with logistics of coming back from Padang Besar and it may very well require overnight in HY and the train north may be full so you'll have to pay more and go to the mafia bus station and get a miserable bus north. All this ....for TWO WEEKS? CHEAPEST IS: US36 for mailers and free visas, 3800 for extensions = 6mos OR BETTER ...go to Lao visa run, do not extend. Trip up/back, food, etc... and visas (free) about <5000 ..that is TEN MONTHS for B6250+/-

Also each time you do a land border visa run, how many days does the extension last until you have to do another one. Thanks for the info. If I go to Bankok on a one way ticket and want to stay for 6 months, and I will get a 30-day free stay in the country, what does it mean when you say "US 36 for "mailers" and "free visas" and 3,800 for extensions. Are these things that all of which can be accomplished if I stay in Pattaya. I am not familiar with the terminology lamentably but would appreciate additional explanation if you have the time. lopburi3
There is no current enforcement of the 90 days within 180 day rule (since change to 15 day entry by land). Entry by land for normal visa exempt travelers is now 15 days. Day of arrival is day one.
