maybe it was bank holiday :o (sorry Spuds, couldn't resist).

seriously, kind of a weird one, it looks like a mistake, coz no mod gave a reason or left their name there which is unusual.

pm a mod about it.

BKKM in the hypothetical situation that you were a Mod (lets assume), why would one have closed it?

I say because its in the Visa section, which is meant to be focused on hard facts, whereas its meandering on like Ulysses,

- all the guidance and advice is already there in the first page or two.

Just need a one liner at some stage now - did she get green lighted or not.

fair point Moog, that could've been the reason, it was going on a bit, but usually a mod would come and say why and then close it.

I didn't close it, and I agree that whoever did should at least made comment. In fairness, the topic had reached epic status, and had run its race.

true, but it had yet to reach its finale with the decision at the embassy :o

Still don't think there was any reason to close it without comment (if at all) very rude of the mod in question if you ask me.

Perhaps we should ask barladies.com to open a visa section in their forum.

BIGS SPUDS' post has recieved a lot of kind responses and I think a lot of people would like to see how the story unfolds. If the mods feel it has strayed from the original visa enquiry then why not just move it to a section where it can be continued.

It's been getting like Nazi Germany in this forum recently. :o

If the mods here were allowed firearms god only knows what would happen to me.

"Mods with guns" sounds like a good name for a film :o. In fairness to the Doc (in one of his few posts over 2 words :D )) he did agree that it should of had a comment .

Spuds can PM a mod to reopen when there is more news to be had!

In the meantime, Spuds should read Stephen Leather's "Private Dancer" which should be compulsary reading for anyone wishing to marry their Thai g/f

Why is that? Does it relate to all Thai women and give exact details on how to deal which each one? :o

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

I just get this image of all these middle aged expats, been in Thailand a year, chests puffed out in their local girly bar, quoting 'Private Dancer' to expats that have been here less than a year as the bible for surviving with Thai girls in Thailand. :D

Well, O 'Moderator-To-Be' I think Big Spuds would get more insight from reading that book than listening to all the acres of waffle posted on his original topic.

Same here... sad isn't it?

The number of times I've read references to that particular piece of literature as the gospel according to relationships with Thai females is pathetic. :D

Just plain ignorance IMHO. :D

Moog, you got a real bee in your bonnet about me man, just to clarify for you, I don't wanna be a mod here, and if you'd read some of my other posts I have a lot of interest in forum building coz I am into making websites so moderation issues naturally catch my attention.

That clear for enough for you? :o

Agree....the people that quote this book as gospel must have difficulty in determining real life from fiction.

Excerpt from an expat book discussion group.

"All my instincts told me to marry her, we were wildly in love but on page 37 of Private Dancer it said..........blah....blah....blah..........so I didn't, the scheming gold digging b.itch! What a lucky escape I had thanks to Saint Stephen"

gburns, as you likely well know, many of the folks who post and read here are less interested in the truth than a good story :D
