Importing Energy Supplements Into Thailand

Hi All

I part own an Energy Supplement brand called Energy Ammo. We produce two types of energy pills in New Zealand which sell in New Zealand and around the world. I'm really enjoying my time in Thailand and would like to see if I can import our Energy Pills into Thailand, giving me income here to allow for a more permanent abode.

I'm guessing the laws are very different here to elsewhere. Our Energy Pills are new generation and legal to be sold through retail stores in New Zealand and elsewhere.

Does anyone have knowledge on how we would go about bringing these into Thailand and selling them both online and through retail stores?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated :-)

Like any other country, Thailand does have their internal policy concerning consumables, vitamins, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc.

a full ingredient disclosure may also be necessary (your trade secret) for approval.

All eatable products will require an import permit from the FDA. You will need to apply with the FDA office in your local area.

Plenty of call for energy pills in Thailand, especially the tourist areas (Pattaya,Samui etc), can you take them as a combination with Viagra .

Anyway good luck and might need some myself, for the gym of course

Only recently did they approve protein powders to be imported, I think the process of getting a permit to import and sell protein took more than 10 years.

They are notoriously difficult as it is about how much you will pay not in any way related to what you are selling. My lawyer said 1 million to get anything approved, in fact some suspect Chinese products had paid and were selling shortly after. Had a common herb sunk in beuro BS for 12 months till I was told how to REALLY rake care of it. In the end I just couldn't be bothered enriching those parasites. Cheers...

The company has switched hands since that would've been written a few years ago. Our new products don't contain any bzp whatsoever.

Has anyone here been through this process with the FDA and have any advice on how best to put an application through?

Are you serious? I've dealt with Vietnam before and that's the way most things work there. I had no idea it was quite the same level here. In VN you have a 'social evil' law which can override most things whereby the government deems something to be affecting the wellbeing of it's people. have you come across anything like that here? I wonder if offering a permanent 'percentage of sale' is the way to go?

viagra has gone through the FDA approval. There are many protein powders that have also gone through, cosmetics etc.

You have to go through the same steps.

You should contact the FDA, they can advise you best on the steps you have to take. I strongly advise you against importing anything that is not registered/approved with the FDA as it could land you in deep trouble.

As others mentioned before, there are plenty of products (read: anything you can buy in pharmacies, drugstores, supermarkets..) that are FDA approved. I cannot see any reason why your product should not qualify if it is as goo as you say.

LIABILITY FOR WRONGFUL ACTS

Section 420. A person who, willfully or negligently, unlawfully injures the life, body, health, liberty, property or any right of another person, is said to commit a wrongful act and is bound to make compensation therefore.

COMPENSATION FOR WRONGFUL ACTS
