Aoe Game Locks Up Computer

Featured Replies

I'm having a problem with AOK The Conquerors. The game will play for about an hour, some times less, then seize up. Nothing will fix this except turning off the system at the main switch. Sometimes the game seizes during the intro so it's not over heating.

The game is not a copy, I bought it at Dick Smiths in Australia, and I have 2gb ram which should handle it with ease.

What do you think? Is it a faulty ram problem? This is the only game I play that would use that much ram. How else could I test the ram?

Sounds like a buggy game to me. Have you tried searching for a patch?

Thks MR, I just dug out an old copy of the same game, the one I'm using is the full set. I un-installed the game I had and installed the other and the same problem occurred.

Definitely hardware I'd say.

The possibility of getting a faulty disc are pretty much nil.

Usually these types of problems are caused by older computers, how old is yours?

Also the OS can cause problems.

Try to update all your drivers - sound, video, can even be stupid things like a mouse driver...

look for problems specific to that game and your individual hardware manufacturers.

do a defrag

even reinstall operating system

post on game titles enthusiast website, or microsoft themselves will have support for that game.
