I read that the Kawasaki KSR 110 has "an easy-shifting, semi-automatic 4-speed transmission, complete with semi-automatic clutch."

What does this mean? Is there a clutch or not and how do you shift gears?

There's no manual clutch, you just change gear normally with your left foot but don't pull the left lever (because there isn't one).

The act of changing gear engages the clutch, same as a wave etc.. If your playing boy racers you can jump a wave off the start line by foot clutching.

For the KSR you can add a manual clutch kit and I have seen a 6 (I think, 5 if not) speed box too.

Technically there are two clutches one on the crankshaft which engages automatically when engine RPM increases and one on the gearbox which is permanently engaged unless the gear selector is depressed. So driving away front stop involved the front clutch, changing gear involves the rear one.

I am struggling to understand that.. Never worked on one..

So the 'foot operated' clutch which engages the clutch for the act of changing gear.. Got that..

And another seperate clutch ?? Which is engaged "automatically when engine RPM increases" I am not grasping its purpose ?

So the bike can sit still in gear without moving!
