Quick Question About Non-imm Ed

Featured Replies

My 1 year non-imm ED visa expires on Jan. 25th. If I go to Cambodia over new years and return will I get 3 months or just a normal tourist visa?

Does your visa say multiple entry?

I definitely can get a multiple entry at the immigration, it's 1900 right?

If I do that will I get the 3 month extension?

We need to know what you have. Do you have a multiple entry visa? or a one year "Extension of Stay? Also, what is expiring, your visa or the period that you are permitted to stay that is stamped in your passport?

You would only get another 90 day stay, if you exit and re-enter on a multiple entry visa, not a re-entry PERMIT, they are not the same thing. Also, 1900 Baht would only be for a single re-entry permit.

I'll try to make this coherent.

I have a 1 year non-imm ed multiple entry visa. It's a sticker (fills up the whole page, hologram etc.) expires on the eighteenth of January. My stamped visa from when I arrived back from the states expires Jan. 25th.

So if I apply for a re-entry (Chaeng Wattana now right?) I should get 3 months?

Thanks for the advice.

Just asking questions, as I want to be careful and not issue advice that would cause a problem for you. If your visa says multiple entry, that means you do not need a re-entry permit, you simply need to leave and re-enter before the visa expiration date, the 18th, not the 25th, you should then be stamped in for 90 days.

Your welcome, and yes it can be! Have a good holiday!

Just to confirm, you will have to leave before the 18th. So you'll need the visa run on the 17th or earlier.

On re-entering you will be given 90 days again.

Leave on the 18th or later, and on return you will be given only 15 days, as you will hold no visa anymore (expired on the 18th).

A re-entry permit (issued by immigration) only locks in the current date until you are allowed to remain (also issued by immgration when entering Thailand) and has no effect on your visa (issued by embassy, which falls under the ministry of foreign affairs).
