Chiangmai Accommodations Late December

Featured Replies

I plan on traveling to Chiang Mai on Sunday (27th) or Monday (28th). I'll probably stay just two nights. Is it advisable to book accommodations in advance or can I just stop by a few budget guest houses in the old city and something should be available.

You won't have any problem finding a room at all. They'll probably have rooms at your first choice. If not, your second choice will definitely have rooms.

Thanks for the update. I was concerned since it is a popular time to travel. I guess most of Thailand is feeling the economic slowdown.

Any suggestions as to which soi to walk down for an abundance of budget accommodations in the old city?

I would start in Moon Muang Soi 1 and 2, this is a backpacker haven. Though the nightclub nearby can be loud. Really anywhere inside the eastern side of the moat is good for backpackers.

You can start here, accommodation in Chiang Mai

Thanks for the link. Very helpful.

I couldn't get the train or bus transportation to Chiangmai. It seems all the transportation is booked up for the holiday. I'll have to plan a trip a month or two later.
