I always, always repack all my luggage - alone - just before I enter the airport complex.

I missed a flight once from Tel Aviv because someone had slipped a knife into one of my bag's outer pockets.

Trust no-one but yourself.

LOL. The same happened to me last year.

The missus likes to eat papayas so always when we come out of the sticks into Bangkok she brings this huge kitchen knife along.

So this time when we left for Bangkok she put the thing in my bag. Ofcourse it was supposed to come out in Bangkok but for whatever reason papayas were not flavour of the month so the thing was still there when I left for the airport.

Carry-on bag so during check-in no problem but later on at the gate when the bag had to go through x-ray all hel* broke loose.

I did not miss the flight but it took a whole lot of explaining :o

And they know that when they arrest foreigners? We are all rich in their eyes  :o

your all right, my apologies  :D

Yes, if they are going for a whale, they research it like any other organized business does. All foreigners are rich? Lolz. What are you police friends telling you? That they make blind guesses hoping for a big score?

:D

How anyone can think they can strap kilos and kilos of gear to their legs and get away with it is amazing, especially going to Oz because the guys there are really hot. They catch a single E sent by letter.

Living in a foreign country is full of dangers. It's a risky thing to transplant yourself thousands of miles away from friends, family and familiar surroundings. The support systems (legal, medical and civil) in a foreign land may seem alien or be hidden from an expats view (usually because most expats are illiterate or make assumptions based on past experiences that don't apply in their new environment).

Aside from the physical dangers (psychotic motorcyle drivers, random holes in the sidewalk and exposed electrical wiring), there's always the possibility of running afoul of civil or criminal laws through simple ignorance. Some action that may be perfectly legal and acceptable in the expat's home country might land him in serious hot water with the police. Or a simple misunderstanding or unknown deadline might create serious problems with the civil bureaucracy.

In other words, living in a foreign country is hazardous enough, without impairing one's own judgment with drugs.

Anyone who gets themselves addicted to drugs while in a foreign country (or comes to a foreign country while addicted to drugs) is just asking for trouble. They shouldn't be surprised when they suddenly find themselves in deep s--t.

It's kind of like saying, "I'm going to walk a tight-rope, but first I'm going to cut my own feet off." It's just an unsensible esculation of risk that serves no purpose.

I'm unaware of the facts of this case, but if this guy is an admitted drug addict, then I have little pity for him now that he suddenly finds himself in big trouble. His family should be happy with the knowledge that they'll at least get him back in a few years, rather than having to transport his coffin back after he'd been stabbed to death in some back alley. Hopefully, his experience will serve as a lesson and warning to others in similar circumstances.

Clean up your act now. Sober up now. Or you may end up like this guy (or worse off).

yeah but pls tell me not just 8 tabs...

skycop

These stories about the cops planting drugs on innocent people are so scary - and knowing how corrupt the cops are here I'm convinced there are more chance of that having happened than the guy actually having committet a crime.

Of course, due to the massive corruption at all levels, there is good reason to question any such arrest. None of us here will ever know for sure, so we're only stuck with our own predjudices in suggesting his guilt or innocence

Notice he's not accusing police of planting drugs on him, he's saying that the drugs may have been planted by police informers.. He also is alleged to have marked bills...

Sounds like he was involved in a sting, and is now paying the price. Too bad for his parents, but I'm not so quick to buy his story of complete innocence.

  • 4 months later...

no, its actually how I wrote it in my last post  :o Phuket that is....

The reason they like setting up a "foreign nobody", is because it is a pay off to everyone in the end - it starts with the police, then the lawyer, then the bailer/guarantee, then the judge - it costs a lot in the end. Paying 30k is nothing to what they make over the duration of the trial.

"It" What payoff are you talking about? The original 30k payoff to the informant? Or some other payoff(s)?

"They" is the police? How are they making anything from having a foreign nobody in jail? In many cases, their families can't even afford to come over here, much less get a bribe put together.

:D

And they know that when they arrest foreigners? We are all rich in their eyes :D - anyway Ill let you lot keep tossing it around :D

If you cant put it all together as Ive written it, your wasting all of our time.

your all right, my apologies :D

having read this im quite sure that tornado has not a clue what he is on about. having very many High level contacts in government, legal proffession, military and police ill quote "30k for information we can beat out of people" ( one uncle was director of commercial affairs in phuket & perhaps you should meet his friends the govenor, chief or police etc etc)

get real

I know a finnish guy who finished his relationship with his thai girlfriend. GF planted some powder in his luggage but before going back to Finland he found the powder in his bag and took it in toilet. In customs he were being searched thoroughly though he hadn't any drugs with him so the ex-GF must have informed the customs. Not a very nice girl...
