Hi me and my partner Entered Thailand on a 60 single entry Tourist Visa. This ends on the 5th February 2010 we need to meet Family here at the end of March but would like to be back in Thailand for my Partners Birthday on the 9th of March. Then we would like to move on to Bali before returning home in April.

Please could anyone enlighten us on possible options as we are finding it hard to get straight answers from anyone.

Much appreciated

Grace :)

You can extend your current 60 day tourist visa with 30 days at any immigration office. Cost is 1,900 baht and a passport photo.

That doesn't seem to help you till the end of March, so you might want to go to Vientianne and get a new tourist visa there for 60 days. That will see you through.

A 30 day extension on your current tourist visa would take your permission to stay through to early March. You do not say what date you will be leaving Thailand, but do say you need to be back in the country by 9th March. Assuming the 30 day extension takes care of the time until you depart, if you are from one of the participating countries you can obtain a 30 day visa exempt entry on re-entering the Kingdom if arriving by air. That would see you through to early April. If the dates do not work for you you would need to obtain another tourist visa.

Depending on where you are I would make a trip prior to Feb 5 to obtain a new tourist visa (free) and return for a new 60 day permitted to stay. You might combine it with a few days tour of the other country.
