Collect Call Phone Scam.

For the past week, I've been getting persistent calls from a number that is identical to mine except for the final digit. When answered, a recording asks you to accept charges: B50 per minute.

I remember a similar scam several years ago; when the call was accepted, there would be several young sounding girls on the line who would attempt to keep you talking as long as possible, the usual questions: 'Where you come from?" ect.

I'm sure the calls are computer generated and that they get a hefty piece of the B50 per minute chargeback.

I'm sure many people bite, curious who it is that has such a similar number or maybe thinking it's some sort of emergency call from a friend in trouble.

I cut the calls off without answering but they persist; tonight they have called more than ten times.

Nasty little scam.

Hence the reason i will not answer a call from an unknown number.
