I can't see this topic covered, but apologies if it has been.

My Thai wife is a teacher and does not want to abandon her high-paying job in Thailand, but wants to come to Canada with me during Thai school holidays.

If she is not actually living in Canada, even though she is my wife, I guess it follows that she is not entitled to apply for Permanent Resident status.

Question: How can I get her in and out of Canada once or twice a year without having to go through the whole Tourist Visa hassle each time?

seriously unless you're from Haiti on India theres no set answers, it can be super easy or super hard for other nationalities.. the 2 persons who work at the canadian embassy are really unhappy persons and they'll make your life a misery no matter who you are.. (unless you're there the 1 day of the month they're in a good mood)

just go to the embassy and talk with one of them, they're calmer in real life.

I suspect they were trained by the witches that live in Canada.

Looks like this is what you need. Pretty common at the U.S. Embassy, don't know about the folks with the "funny leaf."

Multiple-entry visa

A multiple-entry visa allows you to enter Canada several times during the period while your visa is valid. A multiple-entry visa is valid for a maximum of five years or one month prior to the expiry date on the passport/re-entry visa, whichever is earlier.

If a multiple-entry visa is approved, it will allow you to enter and leave Canada repeatedly during the validity period of the visa. You must arrive in Canada on or before the expiry date on your visa. You cannot get a multiple-entry visa for a period that ends after the expiry date of your passport. If your passport will expire soon, you should renew it before you apply for your visa.

If you want to visit several other countries or return to your own country before coming back to Canada, you will need a multiple-entry visa. If you plan to visit Canada frequently, a multiple-entry visa is recommended.

They arent much nicer in person, especially the one that handles the visa application. Ask her any questions and from the way she responds its like you are asking about national secrets.

Expect to be interrogated by her.....

Funny.......I went to the Canadian Embassy for a letter of divorce and all staff I dealt with were very helpful and polite. I was in and out of there in 15 mins. That was on the left side as you enter the office.

I guess that, as with any large organisation, different people will ave had different experiences and so hold different opinions on the service they have received.

However, the OP is asking about obtaining some form of long term, multiple visit visa. So I ask respondents to stick to that as I feel we have had enough comments about the embassy staff.

Thank you.

Having worked in the Oil and Gas energy sector for 35 years

and having done so in 23 countries, I believe that all

embassies are only interested in making money.

However, I married my Thai wife without too much difficulty

except for several forms. It was all done in 2 days.

That's a whole lot quicker, cheaper, and less frustrating

than getting hooked up to a western woman.

...and besides a Thai wife is a lovely wife.
