Terdsak sues Airport Co for sacking him

by AMORNRAT MAHITTHIROOK

The former managing director of Airports of Thailand Ltd (AOT), ACM Terdsak Sajjarak, has filed a civil lawsuit against the airport company and its board chairman Srisook Chandrangsu, demanding 98 million baht in compensation for alleged unlawful dismissal.

The suit, filed with the Civil Court on April 1, named the AOT as the first and Mr Srisook as the second defendant. The court set the first hearing for June 13.

The AOT board sacked ACM Terdsak as the agency's managing director in April 2003 for his alleged failure to ease conflicts within the agency and his alleged involvement in dubious projects to improve runways at Chiang Mai and Phuket airports.

In the same month, ACM Terdsak appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court against the board's decision to fire him, which he claimed as unlawful.

ACM Terdsak said that since the case was making slow progress in the Supreme Administrative Court, he decided to withdraw the appeal and file a civil lawsuit with the Civil Court. He said this was to prevent him from losing his right to file a civil suit against the relevant people.
