BWPattaya
My friend & I, both English, went to Macau with our Thai girlfiends and one child. All of us got a visa on arrival.
londonthai
don't plan there for too long, as there is only a very little to see - 3 museums, 2 temples, some portugees architecture. from bangkok there is a budget airline. you can pop in to hong kong for a few days - the ferry takes <2h. Visa on arrival.

Visa on arrival. Been there many times.hel_l of a lot more to see than that -do a little research on google. You can even walk across the causeway in the China proper but would need visa's,prior to arrival would be better. Use Air Asia most of the time. 3/4 flights a day and good timing.
