A Good Read

I accidentally stumbled on this while searching for the key to decipher the female mind

It thought it was a great read. It's about a Thai Girl that ventured into the US 8 years ago and some synopsis of her experiences with the opposing sex.

She has a sequal and the link is here but, if you've read the first, I am sure you've already found the second.

So... the six million dollar question... did you find that key? :o

BTW, I cannot read that web page because of our company firewall...

GateFilter has determined that the requested URL (http://www.busakorn.addr.com/beingathaigirl.htm) is at least 87 % likely to contain prohibited content.

The page has been blocked because its content is of a sexual nature.

Bummer hey? :D

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

pretty good stuff there

Well, I did find where I could find the answer ( I think ) but, they want me to pay about $200 for it, to have a group of scientists research it for 4 hours. Hmm.... :D

Here's the link, quite interesting BTW.

Great article. I wonder if she's aware of Thaivisa, which is in the similar situation of trying to hold back a flood of BG-related postings...

She seems pretty naive, taking box cutters on her dates and expecting to get any kind of sense from the posters in soc.culture.thai. SCT was full of racist, sexist bigots right from Day 1. It wasn't the kind of forum where you got mostly normal opinions from normal people.

Naive is not the word for it! I was amazed by the box cutter comment. What was she thinking by accepting a date with someone and then distrusting him so much she had to take box cutters along? Paranoid is more like it. She (and he, no wonder there wasn't a second date!) would have been better off staying at home.

Sorry, some of her stuff was good, some of it just weird.

reads like a boring phd thesis :o

When Busakorn began posting to SCT the group was not yet completely filled by "racist, sexist bigots" although there were always a few such posters. She was one of the few women posters who could brush off those idiots. Her posts were always welcome and respected by most of us regulars.

Of course she was naive when she first visited the US. Most Farangs in Thailand have no concept of just how conservative Thai society was until more recent years, especially for those who grew up in small towns and in rural Amphoes. When I was dating my wife in Thailand there was no need for box cutters because the idea of just the two of us going out together by ourselves was simply unimaginable, just as it would have been for two young Thai kids. Going out on a date meant going out with the girl and her friends and their boyfriends. It is seubeu (naive) Farangs who are taken aback by her actions. And rest assured that in the US there are plenty of college girls who have a small can of pepper spray in their pocketbooks when they go out on that first date.

It is too bad that Busakorn no longer has the time to contribute online. I have not had the pleasure of one of her e-mails in a few years. Last time we communicated she was busy in Bangkok and I saw she had co-authored some studies. She is that rare educated English speaking Thai woman from a rural background with opinions that are well reasoned and well spoken. She would be an incredible addition to this forum.
