"1b/min Maomao15b" What Is This On My Phone?

Featured Replies

The calling rates I have in Thailand are rather expensive, I pay about 5 baht per min when I call locally, sms are about 2 baht per msg. Using 1-2-Anycall (is that AIS?) if I press *121# to get my current balance I get an ad that says:

Just 1B/min,MaoMao 15B. Get free 15min within 1 day. Apply press *522*1call. Other pack *500#call

Is that special plan a good one, or to be avoided? Does it really mean local calls are 1 baht a minute? As my current rate is a bit high I am wondering if I can sign up on another plan. If I dial the above phone number, will it give me clear options in English first to choose as I wish, or will it sign me up for some plan right away? Thus I haven't called the number yet. BTW I am using the sim card that renews the expiration date by one year each time you add money. I guess that's why current local calls aren't cheap.

In my recent experience the maomao is an add on , they mention pack. its on top of your usual tarrif. Its a baht a minute indeed.

1-2-call is indeed AIS. There are loads of plans /options available most of them confusing, to me anyway.

AIS have a web site - easy to find. check on there .

I use a 'special numbers' package which allows me 5 'special' numbers . 0.75 baht per minute all day, everyday.

You can certainly find a better package/Plan etc..

You can always ring customer services but like most in Thailand they are not free.

There are lots of different packages available on AIS. If you dial *777 send it will give you a list of the currant deals. The missus pays 199 baht a month and gets free 1-2 call phones free from 5am to 5pm. Or simply call the help centre on 1175. They have very good English speaking staff who have sorted out any problems I have had in no time. Far better service than I ever received from my phone provider back in the UK.
