Help,

Need a quick reply. I stupidly just left my notebook bag with everything in a taxi and am up shit creek.

I have cancelled all my credit cards and also telephoned the taxi company to see if anyone handed anything in. (taxi company is the pink one), but they have heard nothing

I guess I will head down to the uk embassy first thing in the morning to sort it all out. I have coloured scans of my departure card and my non B visa as well as  my details page. I am also registered with the embassy. I also have 5 year driving license which was not in the bag. So hopefully they can deal wiith the situation quickly.

How painful is the process of dealing with the Thai immigration on this one.

cheers

I assume your passport was in your bag, but you do not specifically say. If so, this is what you need to do:

(1) Report loss of passport to police.

(2) Take police report to embassy requesting new passport.

(3) When new passport is ready go to immigration to get extension of stay/permission to stay/re-entry permit stamps (as appropriate) transferred to new passport. There is no charge and a one page form will need completing:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Transfer-Sta...orm-file20.html

(4) At immigration also obtain new Form TM6 (departue card). You will need to provide immigration with details of your last arrival information, flight and date, so they can locate your Arrival Card.

Assume you are working as you indicate you are on Non-B visa. If your work permit was in your bag you will need to obtain a replacement from the Ministry of Labour. If on Non-B visa entry (rather than extension of stay based on employment) you will need to obtain new Non-B visa from consulate abroad to support your work permit.

More information on procedure for re-issue of lost/stolen passports can be found in this link on the British embassy website:

There are one or two radio stations here in BKK which most taxis tune into. Sorry I do not info but maybe somebody here on TV may know the details.

Call them and there may be a chance that your driver is one of the many honest ones.

Did the same thing a couple of weeks back.

A few minutes later when checking in at the hotel, a tap on my shoulder from the taxi driver with my laptop.

There are some nice stories about taxi drivers and this was surely one in that category.

Write down the number of your taxi. It is somewhere at the door, or write down the license plate.

I feel sorry this happened to you.
