In Chonburi minimum wage has just been increased to 184 baht.

If staff work 6 days per weeks and are paid monthly is the minimum

26 days * 184 baht = 4,784 baht

or 30 days * 184 baht = 5,520 baht

I would also have said 4,784 baht per month but our manager says 5,520 baht.

Not a big deal - our lowest paid staff get 5,400 baht and will get an increase in April- but just wondered if anyone knew.

I guess the question is are compulsory rest days paid or unpaid?

I would also check with the labor department. We discovered that there are also laws requiring overtime (time and a half) pay for work over eight hours a day or 40 hours per week as well as for any work on Saturdays, and I remember it being double time for Sundays and holidays although most employers ignore these laws and no employees seem to know about them. The laws were on the books last time we checked.

If the answer is that they are paid they the monthly salary would be 5,600 Baht.

It depends on the type of contract they have with you.

If it is a permanent contract the calculation is 365 x minimum daily wage/12 = monthly pay, however if they have a "casual" contract it is times 26.
