Hi,

This information is probably out there somewhere, but I've spent quite some time searching and it gets confusing.

I have been to T several times on a holiday visa, but will be going there to work for the first time in March - job already organised. Which is the appropriate visa and what documentation is required (letter from employer, medical certificate, etc). I would prefer not to spend money on a visa run.

Thank you!

There is no working visa per se. To be allowed to work in Thailand you need to hold a valid work permit, which you apply for in Thailand.

Work permits can only be issued when you hold a non immigrant visa. To get this visa depends a lot on where you apply for it.

In your home country a leter of intent from your employer will likely be enough, embassies/consulates close to Thailand will want to see proof that you have already applied for the work permit.

Yes, try to contact your local Thai consulate and see what they require to issue a non-immigrant B visa for you. In many cases a letter from your prospective employer will be enough.

Please consider the fact that your name has to be on the “Teachers’ council of Thailand’s’ list (First step when you’re applying for a teachers license, I guess that’s what you’d like to do, right?), before they even give you a visa or work permit. It’s different in some provinces.
