Category “o” To Visit Non Thai Family/friends Living In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi we have a family member who wants to come and stay with us for 3 to 6 months or longer (they are retired) would the Category “O” to visit non Thai family/friends living in Thailand visa be there best bet? A few questions

Can they apply for that in the UK?

What sort of documentation would they need?

How long could they stay for?

Thank you in advance!

If they are in UK apply at the Hull Royal Thai Consulate. http://www.thaiconsul.co.uk/

They can stay for up to 15 months but will have to do a border run every 90 days.

application form, pictures and fee is sufficient - you can send them an invitation and your relatives can show their financial status, bank statements

If they are retired they can apply for 1 year non immigrant O-A from the embassy in London.

They will be stamped in for one year without having to leave the county every 90 days.

Same requirement as for a non-immigrant O + police check.

It is not the same requirement as a non immigrant O visa - they must be over age 50 and there is a financial requirement above and beyond the normal 20k/40k show for a non immigrant visa.

plus will need health certificate too and (in UK) can only obtain from Thai embassy in London.

Thanks guys so the normal o visa leaving the country every 90 days is going to be the most simple way of doing it then

Cheers
