A quick Google gave me this link

http://www.camerahacker.com/Novoflex/EOSNIK.shtml

By his account it is fiddly to use, but does open up a whole range of new lens possibilities. :)

I would be worried that any adapter, no matter how thin, does move the lens a fraction further from the sensor, or film for that matter.

That will surely affect the range over which the lens can achieve accurate focus?

Secondly the lens will need an easy to use manual focus ring......

I am not sure if there is a setting on the 450 for B&W

but you can certainly do it on the PC. I use SilkyPix

can a canon 450 take black and white picture's

In any case ever if it can - don't do that. Because the better result you can get if you will make it in any photo editing software on the PC. To get perfect result In B&W photo right from camera you have to use color filters to add mood and contrast and select the most important tomes and details. Nowadays almost everyone use Photoshop or Gimp or any RAW converter to make the same job. Of course for better result you have not only slide saturation to 0 but use more smart methods like channel mixer for example.

I just like to vote based on my experience. I find Canon cheaper in general compared with Nikon with the same class. The picture quality is more or less the same in my view but Canon is cheaper.

ok My own opinion about subject

there is no cameras of same class

they are a little bit different

for example if you want huge of megapixels and super fast serial shutter - use canon

if you want less numbers but more quality - use nikon

but actually both of them are perfect for their purposes and if person don't know what to buy - it's not matter what to bay

PS. Two my las cams are nikon before I used canon, but I've changed system not because canon was worse but just because the was model which was more suitable for my needs. My previous cam was Nikon D70 it was cheaper than Canon 20D but image was better on my taste. Now I bought Nikon D90 which is cheaper than canon 50D but has some advantages for me.

It is a rich person who can afford to change systems.

I am not just talking about a camera and one lens.

Most keen amateurs will have accumulated a few lenses and a flash

all dedicated to the system. Selling second hand a buying again

is not an option for most of us.

My next one is a 70-200 f 2.8 VRII :)

I love my VR.

If your buying new go with which ever one feels the best in ur hands and buy the fastest lense you can afford. There is very little difernece betweent the two.

I think these days both give you the same quality.

But probably "easier" to get better quality pictures with a Nikon, at equivalent price.

But well, just a feeling, I use Canon and won't change soon, too many lenses... :)

Yes, now nikon uses CMOS matrix like canon - and it makes very similar images.

so nowadays only usability is important

if this cam lays perfect in your hand - use it, all other are just jokes from sale mans.
