Rear Bike Mount For Car

Featured Replies

I haven't seen these before in Thailand. It's an attachment for a tow-ball (or other means), whereby bicycles can be firmly and quickly attached/detached to the rear of your car. I have 2 mountain bikes that I want to transport on the back of my Chevrolet Zafira car. Chevrolet couldn't help me with this.

Anybody transport bicycles on their car? How do you do it?

Thanks

Simon

Import them form Holland they are pretty common there.

Robblock - yes indeed, I lived for 4 years in Antwerpen, had such a device mounted on my Jeep Cherokee and used to go cycling at KinderDyke every Sunday.

Was your comment a statement that you import them - or a suggestion that I import them?

Simon i meant you should import one from Holland if you need help with it i could help you as i am Dutch.

If you can get a drawing of the design, there are plenty of people in Thailand that could make one for you, much cheaper than importing.

Just saw them in Halfords in the UK too.. and yes you can get things made up in Thailand too. The thing is that we all know Thai quality standards. I would rather pay a bit extra for something that is made by a professional and that is designed for it then something made by a Thai.

I have been burned many times by "Thai" quality. I do have some good gym equipment but to be honest its hard to mess that up. Still it was made by Thais.

Depends who you go to, there are lots of good fabricators in Thailand and some shonky ones too.

I also remember in the UK you can buy a rear bike carrier that is suitable for hatch-backs/people carriers whereby it clips around the edge of the rear swing-up door. I had that type of carrer and never lost a bike...

Problem is how to figure out who is who. I had some things done on my bike (attaching some side boxes) but they put an iron beam just in front of the keyhole that locked my saddle. Result i had to cut a key in half and use some pliers every time i want to open the saddle (for the battery and wires not that it happens a lot). I thought they were a good shop but obviously they were not.

I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality.
