:D just an idle thought ,but if we had a spell checker on the post composition board who's dictionary would be used ?

OED?

Amerenglish?(sic)

Pidgeon? Who's?

Or would it defeat the object of cross culture spontinaity that we all enjoy.

Being a very crappy speller sometimes, I'd love to see a spell-checker.

I think every message I've ever posted here has an edit line at the bottom...

Ahem. Pidgin.

many thanks hence a spell checker maybe? :D

Have you tried the Firefox browser? It has a spell checker "extension" - hence my perfectly spelt posts :o

Even when you post in the Thai Language Forum? :D

If you use Mac OS/X it has a system-wide spell-checker that you can activate in any properly written application. Checks spelling as you type.

It flagged this: "colour" as misspelled!

But alas, the Forum Rules do clearly state:

Misspellings and grammar errors are considered bad netiquette, please proof read your post by clicking on preview before posting

I wish I could find a translation site (like babelfish) from Thai to English as most of the business websites in Thailand don't have English versions.

It is good to be reminded of the forum's rule/etiquette. Availability of checkers would hopefully make me more mindful and responsible in this regards. I am certainly guilty of being too lazy to correct erroneous spellings and other mechanics for the most part. In any case, I am prone to making mistakes even with my best attempts: English is, after all, not my first language.

Even with spell checking, you still have to proof,

lest you end up with errant word substitutions

... in was right their in front of them ... :o

You could have fooled me! I wish half the native English speakers could write as clearly! :o:D

What's "Amerenglish?(sic)"? :D

answer : the reason for a spell-checker(I'm glad someone spotted the deliberate mistake ,that's my excuse anyway) :o

Sorry to only answer half of your question; sic, used to indicate a quoted passage or word ,especially one containing an error or unconventional spelling, has been quoted in its original form or written intentionally :D
