I have tried to explain my interest in the games to my friend. I'll spare you my attempt to recreate the blankness that was.

In any case, the speed skating, snowboard and moguls have been awesome.

I can't wait for the hockey. :D

What's great about the winter games is that there is always a large asian presence and lots of medals for asian nations. I call it the fun Olympics where the excitement and sheer joy of competing beats out the crass commercialism of the summer games.Watching the speedskaters in short track is a highlight for me.

Now to try and convince some Thais to consider skeleton or luge. :)

Now with a bit more experience, the best non-ESPN option I'm aware of for at-home viewing in Thailand is to download a program called StreamTorrent, and watch the games on a channel available therein called AC TV that is tending to broadcast from about midnight to noon Thailand time each day, carrying the NBC network signal... The channel isn't pre-loaded, so once you've installed the program, you have to search for it in the program by name.

If any of our European breathren are viewing online via Eurosport.tv, I'd like to know how it works... I tried there the other day, and couldn't get it to do anything, even though the web site said they were carrying a live feed of the games.

Here's finally what they posted on the NBC Olympics web site video page...

Video for International Viewers

Due to Olympic broadcasting regulations, NBC is only allowed to show Olympic competition video on the internet to users in the United States and U.S. Territories (including Puerto Rico). Users outside of those locations will still have access to an extensive set of non-event video content on NBCOlympics.com including the video listed below.

Interestlingly, it seems even if one has a U.S. IP address, that's not going to be enough... Even with a U.S. IP, when you try to watch one of their streaming events like hockey or curling, it takes you to a registration page where they have a list of partner cable systems. To access the live event video, you need to log-in with the partner cable system user ID and password in order to gain access....

Of course, I noticed today, on Stream Torrent, there also is another channel, VP5, that appears to be picking up CNBC's feed of the hockey game broadcasts.

Just an update here.... the Stream Torrent program is carrying quite good feeds of Winter Olympic coverage....

ST channel AC TV is carrying the NBC network's feed usually from about midnight to noon time BKK time, which is morning to night Canada time..

And in addition, another ST channel named VP5 appears to be carrying live hockey games with a feed from CNBC network....

In both cases, once you've installed the ST program, you need to use the Search function to search for channels by name or description, then click the Add button to pick the ones you want to add to your ST channel lineup.

The Canada Russian hockey game should be on at 01:30 this morning (01:30 on the 25th our time), Was going to try to stay up, but fading fast....true visions schedule doesn't specifically say what Olympics they will show at that time.
